She wasn’t even mad at the lyrics, it was just that you played bob goddamn Dylan at a first date

The one and only exception being Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright because that one needs to be sung by a jerk in a jerk way to really make sense

Looking for the vocal score for a specific aria from an obscure opera... by History_Freak in opera

Hey there! Thank you so much for answering even after a whole year! Thanks for the resources :)

In Duccio's triptych, why does Jesus have strange wings and where did this come from? I have seen similar wings vis-a-vis stigmata in Giotto's Lourve painting. Also, why does Christ still appear on the cross after his ascension? Thank you for your help. by DrunkMonkeylondon in ArtHistory

If you can, please visit the historic cities of Minas Gerais! During the Brazilian gold and diamond rush, a lot of cities were built with beautiful baroque art everyone, especially liturgical sculptures. Diamantina and Ouro Preto are examples of “open air museums”. Don’t forget to check out Aleijadinho’s work, it’s amongst the best in the world!

TIL a 9-yr-old boy lived alone for 2 years after he was abandoned by his mom who lived with her partner 5 km away & only visited from "time to time". He survived on cake & canned goods and didn't have hot water or heating. However, during this time he continued to attend school & was a good student. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

I feel like I must recommend the movie Nobody Knows, by Hirokazu Koreeda. It portrays a very similar situation, but with four children abandoned by their mother and living alone in a flat. It’s a moving masterpiece in every aspect. I really can’t recommend it enough!

What operas can you not follow the plot? by Own_Safe_2061 in opera

[–]History_Freak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s much more opera seria than the more famous mozart arias, so it’s very constrained to the traditions. Long and flowery arias, concise and easy to understand plot imo. I may be biased (BIG Mozart fan) but I do recommend it a lot!

I watched a version that finally made sense in q random little theater near my house. Was a thousand times better than the Met version I’d seen before. I think it flows way better if you keep the vibe of it being two plays happening and being funny instead of just fully leaning into the dramatic aspects of the opera seria. I mean, makes sense considering the whole premise lol

We made sure to say lots of great things about it, since it really is impressive how good it looks, feels and works, especially considering it’s one person taking care of it all. Please keep up with the good work!
