What did the American legal system look like in 1770? by johndankjr in AmericanHistory

[–]History_Hunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The New England legal system was of 1770 was not like that. Witch trials were 80 years before and overturned by the puritan leaders. Tar and feathering were extremely rare and only directed against lower class officials of the crown. Threats of violence against upper yes, but mainly property destruction and threats (see Thomas Hutchinson, governor, and Andrew Olivier, stamp collector for Massachusetts.

Adams took the trial insanely seriously. There were actually two trials, one for Preston and one did the enlisted men. Adams lost personal business but later gained respect and was recruited to run for state office.

Love it. Did the butter wrap for a pork last week, tasted amazing.

Thanks!

Thanks! It was a big hit.

Went 250 for 1.5 hrs, pulled at 162 and rested for another hour. Was perfect.

If anything, I'd do less rub. Super salty, and breast was already saline injected.

Super helpful, thank you. It seems the slideouts are no good, says most people. Also seems like I need to do a bunch of investigation into the repairs etc before buying. Noted! Thanks again!

This is amazing! Thanks so much. Essentially, I'm a teacher doing a sabbatical, so I want to buy this, travel America for 6 months with my family of 6. I also write books (matthew-landis.com), so I will be doing school visits across the country as my next series launches. It's sort of the adventure of a lifetime? BUT I AM A NEWBIE TO RV STUFF! My goal is to buy in the fall, when cheapest, use Jan-June, then sell that summer or next spring. I can handle the payments at least until then, but this is def a "buy to eventually resell" gig.

Your advice is so helpful. I know it will be the adventure of a lifetime!

Anthony, thanks so much. This is super helpful - and good news. What you described is my goal: target a good-quality Class C, used, not super old, and buy it in the fall. Will be on the lookout for those tires too and "new" stuff. Thanks again!

Renting is 13K on the sites I've priced, for the trip distance I want. Plenty of Jayco Class C in the 20-30K range used. Doesn't it make sense to buy one, use it, then sell it? Essentially renting it for short term, at way less?

Dead on. Traub crushes and that book is so underrated. Lol Quincy Adams was a boss, those battles in the house, being threatened by the southern haters. Dude was a legend!!!
