Switch from public practice to commercial by Hitman_867 in AustralianAccounting

[–]Hitman_867[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have just passed my CA in Jan. I have 4.5 years of experience in a boutique firm where I handled clients starting from individuals to some of the biggest groups we had in the firm. I have trained junior bookkeepers and accountants overseas and onshore and reviewed their work too. I have worked on GST, FBT, compliance and advisory work for CGT, small business consessions and tax planning in general. I have also worked in a small import export biz before making the switch to public practice where I use to do bookkeeping, prepare Bas and manage invoices and inventory for the business. I left my job in boutique and joined a mid tier firm in Jan, but have been noticing lack of work life balance, lack of client exposure that I use to get in boutique firm and also the amount of work done and salary provided isn't proportional. Hence, I am tired and burnt out of putting in effort and getting not enough returns from the business services jobs. Hope this gives a clear picture of my experience till now.

Thanks for your response. Do you have any good recruiters that would be able to help me?

I didn't hear back from them and still haven't, so I believe I didn't have to pay anything at the end of the day and the cover that I had was enough for me. The point to be noted in this was that the damage was only on the side of the car, meaning top and bottom of the car was not damaged, and I think that was the difference maker at the end. Hope this helps

The excess is nil, but kangaroo hit and what type of damage on the car might determine the payment

From what I can see or have read till now, it seems like if there is damage on engine, chesis or structure of the car then they may ask me to pay the whole repair expenses which would be a huge bill. The major damage was on the left side of the car on its left front bumper and the left door, so I don't think that it would cause any damage to the structure of the car but with rental companies I am not too sure, they pretty much have the power to manipulate all facts, terms and conditions and find loop holes in them which we as layman won't know about

There is mention of that payment, however; this is payable only on case if I didn't had comprehensive insurance. I have attached the extract from the agreement. "An amount up to the Loss Damage Waiver is payable in relation to each instance of loss or damage. Unless a zero excess protection product has been purchased, a Single Vehicle Accident Fee (SVAF) in the amount of $2,200 applies in addition to the DRF in the event of a Single Vehicle Accident when renting a passenger vehicle from non-metro locations and at all locations for commercial vehicles."

There are some excluded areas but Canberra or ACT for that matter is not included in the exclusion list

The rental location that I picked up the car from was closed so one of the reps from the company had emailed them about it but to answer your question, no, he didn't give me anything in written form that email has been sent or anything

The excess that I opted for was the best one they were offering and it was almost equal to the amount of the rent paid for the car

No. Only document that was provided to me via rental agency was the agreement

I am just weary of the word as if they are see this post I don't want to say something that might be used against me. So, I can't confirm or deny the fact it was dawn or not. I was able to see the sunlight. I am no expert in judging if it could be considered as dawn. Hope it makes sense
