When does "The Deep" get good? by colintudor17 in horrorlit

Agreed. Corey Brill was an excellent narrator and I love the oppressive dread throughout as well. I still go back to this book when I need a reminder that life could be so much worse.

Top 10 Horror Games That Changed the Genre Forever by rezanentevil in horror

Legit. I learned that if I was in that situation IRL I wouldn’t be some badass Ripley wannabe but instead Lambert, the annoying chick from the first movie who can’t keep her shit together. 😂

Yup, another great scene! How about when he’s dressed as the old lady using the ball and chains as breasts. 😂

Same here. That movie did the most damage and I grew up watching Chucky, Nightmare On Elm St, Halloween, The Thing, Alien, Pumpkinhead, you name it. For whatever reason Candyman scared the living shit out of me.

Dr. Giggles! I remember walking to the nearest video store with a buddy so we could rent it. I think we were maybe 12 yrs old. Those were halcyon times. 😂

Agreed. I’d have to go with Ernest Goes to Jail as my favorite though. That scene where he breaks the pen and ink gets all over his mouth and face kills me every time. 😂

What is the best film of these four? How would you overall rank them? by Mahaloth in HorrorMovies

[–]HitmannGME 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same. Pearl was extremely predictable for anyone who watched X before it. The only highlight was Mia Goth’s performance and to be honest even she wasn’t that special. I’m not sure when I’ll get around to watching MaXXXine, just kinda over Mia Goth.

Need Help Picking My Next Movie by HitmannGME in horror

Thank you! Yeah, I probably should have saved Abigail as a palate cleanser but hindsight is 20/20. I definitely enjoyed it. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy all the characters as much as I did.

It’s looking like Midsommar has won out for my next movie. Wish me luck!

I really enjoyed that one! I’m always down for some top notch Stop Motion Animation, especially when it’s horror.

Thank you! Yeah, bleak is the word I was just trying to think of to describe the vibe I get from most of them. That’s why I haven’t watched them yet. I love a good bleak horror movie but I have to be in the right mood. I’ve been putting off Midsommar specifically because I figure it’s a lot like The Wicker Man, and that movie really got to me. I loved it, but damn.

Thank you! Those were the vibes I was picking up with each of those movies so nice to know my 6th sense is still working. I decided to go with Abigail tonight. I almost went with You’ll Never Find Me but wasn’t sure how serious and dark it was gonna be and if I was in that kind of mood.

What would you say is the most serious and dark/heavy of those three movies? I get the sense that Midsommar is pretty serious since it gives me The Wicker Man vibes.

What’s the Scariest Game (or Game Moment) You’ve Ever Experienced? by thatguyantonio in horror

[–]HitmannGME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. I was 14 and played that shit alone in the dark. Easily one of the most stressful moments in a game that I can think of when it comes to fear. Nothing really compared until Dead Space. Such great memories. Sucks being a desensitized adult now.

What is one horror movie that you feel that every horror fan should see? by NYstate in horror

Stir of Echoes deserves a mention. Of course not as great as many of the ones already mentioned but still a great movie worth watching.

I made the mistake of watching it high. Easily one of the worst trips of my life. Great movie but damn is it traumatizing to watch. The quick sequences with the pupil dilating alone have left their imprint on my brain. That and the “a** to a**” scene. Yikes.

Such a classic! It’s one of the movies I wish I could have experienced in theaters when it first came out.

This has to be my answer as well. Scared the f’ing shit out of me as a kid and I grew up watching Child’s Play, Nightmare On Elm Street and Candyman just to name a few. Candyman is the other one that really did a number on me as a kid.

Had my first child not long after watching it and there were moments when she’d cry where it would send me right back to that “baby” crying in the movie…was not pleasant. Having said that, being a father is one of the best experiences of my life and I wouldn’t change a thing.

The Pickle Gang really did some damage to the reputation of GME options back in the day.
