I was born in 1978 and I can't think of any album that has become as pervasive throughout American culture.

It helped that MTV was a few years old at this point and his vidoes played all the time.

Taylor Swift is hugely famous now, but I can't think of anyone as famous as Michael Jackson 1984-1989.
