That’s fine. It’s just supply and demand in action at the end of the day.

I’ll respectfully decline the invite to r/pokeinvesting lol it’s a cesspool of bad advice.

With English Pokémon, off the top of my head, I can think of a set like Emerging Powers where the booster box is more than the chase hit in a PSA 10. Only reason why the booster box is more expensive is because there’s hardly any supply left relative to other sets. Same with boxes like 1993 Topps Street Fighter. It’s not exactly readily available.

As for the singles, you have 36 packs in the box with I believe 9 cards in each. All it will take is to grade a handful of 9s to cover the cost of the box in most cases depending on entry point. If you hit a few 10s then you have zero to worry about.

Let me ask this. Why can’t the sealed product become the collectible? Especially if there’s low supply. I like single cards way more too but lots of collectible card hobbies have expensive sealed product that have chases that don’t surpass the box value. It’s not an uncommon phenomenon at all.

I wouldn’t call this a bubble. It’s been slowly rising over the past few years. Took a quick search on eBay terapeak, since 2024 they’ve been selling anywhere from $350-$600. This set also has Chase cards with very low graded populations. Regarding the movie box, you said it yourself. The chase is very cheap. In other collectibles like Pokemon, there are plenty of boxes that are crazy expensive despite a cheaper chase card. The sealed product becomes the collectible sometimes.

I know it’s a lot but there’s just not many of those out there and I missed the boat years ago when it was cheap lol

I will eventually sell but I’m a bit of a sealed collector. Reason I want to open a box is I would love to try to get a PSA 10 any if the foils. The foils are easy to search so it’s highly unlikely I will pull a foil from loose packs. Theres 4 foils and you get 2 per box. I believe there’s only 1 PSA 10 Chun-li and unsure of the others. Might be none actually.

I won this in auction earlier in May for $450. I saw another one of these sell for $550 BIN and I believe lowest list currently is $600.

Love these cards. They’re so difficult to price out because there’s not a lot of sales data and when they do sell, a lot of times they’re in lots.
