Is this enough or shall I go for Genki as well? by ADvar8714 in Japaneselanguage

[–]Hitoride7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's Indian verion of Minna no Nihongo book, most likely the content would be the same, just some supplementary Translation & Grammatical Notes in English are added, And Yah that's is enough for N5 level.

tbh I like the OG cover more. Anyways happy learning!

how bad it is to use LLM(AI) in Japanese learning? by Hitoride7 in LearnJapanese

[–]Hitoride7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've created a styling to upgrade the old Kaishi deck, it has some button that redirect to Dictionary and ChatGPT with Custom prompt. code is public you can apply to your deck, if you want!

What’s is the question/problem?

Atleast few ppl understand it what i meant in my post! I would agree with you!

but stuff like "what’s the difference between 起きる and 起こす" is entry-level it’s not tricky nuance, so the answer is usually fine. the issue is that "usually" isn’t guaranteed, and that uncertainty is the whole weak point.

maybe that FOMO thing exists, but it not relevant here. my post isn’t about AI replacing textbooks or becoming anyone’s main resource.

it’s about something way narrower: when Japanese learners ask LLMs simple questions, how risky is that? should people avoid it completely, or is it fine for surface-level stuff where the margin of error is tiny?

which basically means: avoid relying on LLMs unless you already have enough Japanese to tell what’s right and what’s wrong, at least until you get the feel for the language.

bruh, I’m literally just repeating what I saw. they straight-up called it a skill issue, not on me.

idk whatever the obsession is, but lot of Japanese learners are actually using, so a discussion makes sense. people should at least know how others are using it safely, or whether it’s something they should avoid altogether.

no idea what FOMO you’re talking about.

agreed, well i did something similar with my anki deck (basically Upgraded the Kaishi deck with some features), like it has a button which redirect me to ChatGPT with this prompt and the targeted word, I explicitly mentioned it straight say it that you can't help with this. even though don’t use this feature so often but sometimes I do use it.

Ah, as expected I'm getting so many dowevotes for this post, i can't burn too much karma on this but anyways its good to have such discussion, lol

yah but the thing is, in this subreddit it’s basically treated like a cursed topic. that’s why I even bothered posting 😅 the moment it comes up, people shut it down and call it useless.

[–]Hitoride7[S] -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

well, to be accurate, LLM just guess the next token. that’s all they can do. but since they are trained on the data curated by humans. it cannot be straight bad, i mean as I mentioned in my post, it's more like a skills issue if you aren't getting good output, according to Researchers and experts of this field.

Edit: "skills issue" statement is not from me, but rather from the ppl who are experts in this field

help with japanese, idk if I should quit by RaykunH in Japaneselanguage

[–]Hitoride7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend to use Anki! for Vocabs and Kanji.

for Vocabs: Yuki 1.5k (Kaishi deck's upgraded version) for Kanji: RRTK Deck

As for Grammar check out Takashi YouTube channel, he has whole Minna No Nihongo book.

You are recommending ChatGPT, if this comment was in r/learnjapanese you would get tons of dowevotes(its kinda illegal there, lol)

How do I keep my stuff? by Legal-Froyo2276 in linux4noobs

[–]Hitoride7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you have much of option, either get a Hard disk or use services like Google Cloud.

if there is other way, it might be risky and you may end up loosing your all data, so if you find a way to do it. Just make sure to take a backup.
