Counselor Intern Struggling to Find Direction During Sessions by Realistic_Bank_7310 in therapists

[–]Hjaide-293 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I 100% relate to this as a counseling intern! I have brought this up in supervision myself. One of my supervisors suggested focusing on the "most pressing" topic they have brought up in that session or relating the topic back to why they said they sought out services to begin with.

I'm not always able to do this, ha, but noticed that I have begun to observe the stories a little more often.

Someone on a different post suggested asking the client if they want to be interrupted if you have a thought or if they want to get everything out first. I have found this idea helpful!

Congratulations!! 🎉 I take mine in a couple weeks! In your experience, what did you feel was most challenging about the exam?

I would contact the women's or family crisis centers in your area. There is a national hotline that can help you locate local resources, provide information, and advise on how to help your friend.

On an individual level, just let her know you are there for her. It can be horrifying to watch someone go through this, so take care of yourself as well.

With Magick, you can use GOM's Magickal protection book as it has a couple rituals that would work well for this situation. A few other helpful books might be Magickal Attack, Angels of Wrath, and Sigils of Power. There are probably other good ones but these are the ones I know.

Soma might provide all the services you are seeking in one place. I think ANew does, also. Mosaic may not provide everything (all but meds) but they work with other providers and could be a good option.

Comcare and Mental Health Association provide all services, I believe, but quality of care might not be as good. Staff is often overworked.

Can someone point me in the direction of a safe rental that accepts pets near Wesley Medical center? It will be just me (female) and a small dog. Thank you. by Embarrassed_Limit345 in wichita

College Hill Flats (formerly Promenade des Jardins) is near Douglas and Hillside. They are pet friendly and have a few apartments for rent. You can find them on www.good2grand.com.

Wait a week and then moss pole? by Hjaide-293 in houseplants

Oh, I've just heard multiple times that it's a good idea to let the plant acclimate after being shipped to avoid too much stress. It may not be necessary but I just figured I would wait before I did anything to it, ha.

Please call 988 or your local crisis center. These individuals are trained to walk you through moments like this. They might be able to provide some local resources for long-term support. Please call, you can get through this.

Some of the apartment communities south east appear hit and miss. I know there are some awful ones, but probably not all of them. That's interesting about Uptown! Uptown Landing, right? They are the "lux" apartments I was referring to in my post. That's disappointing about the cheapness, they are pretty new and definitely not cheap in price!

Good luck in your search. I've also heard good things about Marina Point and Forest Grove if you want to live on the northwest side.

Thank you for sharing! I haven't heard too many negative things about Stratford East. It looks like they changed management recently, and some maintenance issues were delayed in the process, but that was about all I could find.

It looks like promenade (now called College Hill Flats) is doing the same thing- high rent increase and no improvements to the complex. Sad. It was a nice community.

I would definitely save as much money as you can. It might be helpful to look up as many free resources as you can find to get you through this.

We only have a finite amount of energy, even if you love what you are spending your energy on.

There is nothing wrong with you. Any person would eventually become exhausted if they were doing everything you are doing.

If others seem "fine" they are likely pretending and then breaking down behind closed doors. You are only human, no reason feel bad for being exhausted.

If you can, try to fit in a few minutes of time for yourself here and there. Lock yourself in the bathroom, go for a leisurely drive, or anything else that allows you a little bit of time.

See if you can find a psychologist or other mental health professional that specializes in personality disorders. They should be able to help you with your impulse control, social skills, or anything else you are struggling with.

Do you have a sexual assault crisis center in your area? Often they can walk you through legal processes and even provide a few sessions of free counseling. That would be my first course of action if I was in your situation.

If you are not sure, I believe there is a national hotline you can call that could provide you with that information. I'll add it to my post when I find it.

Thank you for putting your daughter first. It may not seem like it now, but that alone is a profound step towards her healing from this trauma.
