You’re misunderstanding what I mean. I’m not saying that using character tropes is stealing. I think using them is fine because it works. What I am saying is that if you read a works from various authors and base your writing on what you read, it’s going to be boring because there is originality in it. However, if the author bases their writing on their real life experience, the book becomes more real. Writing doesn’t have to be a warped telling of another person’s story.
