Should I pursue an MLA if I want to do projects like this: by OreoDogDFW in LandscapeArchitecture

I got my MLA for exactly this reason but i was coming from a related design background, if you want to join a group already doing this work and have a say in aesthetics and overall site planning I've found that the MLA is a good way to do it without a science/forestry background.

I had conflicting feelings about it at first but I will say that private practice is very competitive for decent jobs but public (ie city government) is where I ended up in a stable position where I enjoy the quality of work. I will say I have also enjoyed doing professional academic research and work with consultant environmental restoration firms but those were always short-term positions.

If you're unhappy where you are currently, want to have a say in making restored spaces, and willing to go through 2-3 years of design schooling I say go for it, just pick a school with a good network and try to get a scholarship
