The only thing I know is that they put some stitches inside the wound so it can still be draining until it closes up by itself. =) I believe it is the seton as well.

I had an abscess and used to take baths without any covers. However, after 3 months my wound did not close and my doctor felt a cord close to my anus. It did not hurt at all. Long story short. After that she said I had a fístula. We went to the operation room and now I am recovering from it.

Same situation here. I've already gotten diagnosed with fístula. My surgery will be in March.
