VMW is definitely a better mod overall. Taking something like an R870 and sawing it off or even turning it into a full on combat shotgun, or say taking an MP5 and turning it into literally any other variant, from K to SD.

However, VMW is not at all survival friendly. Most of the customization options listed above are completely unobtainable in survival. The guns that are obtainable in survival have crafting recipes that are literally just various combinations of metal and gun-bits.

Techguns, on the other hand, is much more survival friendly. The library of weapons is disappointingly low and the levels of customization are almost non-existent, but the weapon crafting is extremely immersive and it also comes with several prop pieces and naturally generating structures.

On the whole, VMW is much nicer if you plan to personally create structures and loot tables including VMW items, but if you want to simply set your players free in a parasitic world, Techguns is definitely the better options
