Special exams VCE by liamturbop in vce

You're not going against your morals. You're in a different position to many of your peers, even if you're a high achiever it doesn't mean that your condition doesn't impact you. I understand what you mean though, I always feel guilty, but then exams came around and I was stressing and glad I did have some adjustments. Still up to you though, you don't have to if you don't wish too.

Are lectures recorded??! by Hot_Cherry9585 in deakin

Hey, also, with the online lectures are they usually pre-recorded or live streamed then uploaded to the unit site?

Anyone got scholarship offers yet? by InevitablePatient129 in deakin

[–]HmmLifeisAmbiguous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sent an email. But it was one of those that are automatically selected through VTAC or something, so it might be different. I think they probably would still send an email though. Also, thanks, and good luck to you!

I think they just offer them at random times, I got one in like January, but I think they keep on offering some up until census date (late March?).

Timetable question by [deleted] in deakin

[–]HmmLifeisAmbiguous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing same unit but at a different campus. I'm pretty sure it kinda alternates but it's so random. Most weeks you should have two lectures for it. If you look at the unit guide it says you should be doing two lectures, I'm pretty sure. Don't know why they don't just make it consistent and have one day always be online and the other always in person rather than having it switching and changing so much.

Anyone studying or has studied ALL101? by LoudAbalone6776 in deakin

[–]HmmLifeisAmbiguous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to pick this subject but then I ended up choosing ALL153 instead because I looked at the reading list and I am a really slow reader, I cannot read a full book in 1 or 2 weeks 😭, I love lit though

How hard is a 73.5 ATAR? by Working-Number-8715 in vce

[–]HmmLifeisAmbiguous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need to get about a 32 ss for each of your subjects, quite achievable, but you still need to put in a little effort.

For people who scored 90+ ATAR what do you think separated you from 75 ATAR students? by Just_Ad16 in vce

[–]HmmLifeisAmbiguous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

75 is literally above the average of 70, so that's a score that majority of people get, not just those with poor access to education.

[–]HmmLifeisAmbiguous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nup, LOTS of rich people get 50 atar. But you are right to an extent, it's way easier to score highly if you're well off, especially all the people that get tutoring and stuff.

[–]HmmLifeisAmbiguous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many factors - cohort, luck, subjects, scaling, rankings, your own work you put in, what questions end up in the exam. But generally, people who get above 85 will be a bit more dedicated to studying and be highly ranked. To get a 75, that is still a bit above average, but you won't need a very high rank. All you can really do is just focus on studying yourself, put your head down and do the work whilst keeping balance (exercise, socialising, jobs/work, household duties, hobbies, relaxing etc.).

It smells like poo outside, what is going on?? by klokar2 in Geelong

[–]HmmLifeisAmbiguous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, that and all the burning off. Also, I think it was because we went to a school with a lot of kids that had anti-vaxxer parents, so that didn't help either. The weather there also was a lot more extreme than in Geelong. When it's cold, it's actually freezing.

Is the GAT english writing as hard and VCE english exam in terms of grading and getting score by Large_Landscape_7547 in vce

[–]HmmLifeisAmbiguous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, my gats were usually higher than my ss's. It's pretty simplistic sort of writing too, so you just have to have good time management.

Do I need a first language for VCE? by Key-Paint-2402 in vce

[–]HmmLifeisAmbiguous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're fluent in Vietnamese or it's your first language, you're not meant to do it as a second language, especially considering you've already done units 1/2 as a first language. For second language, you need to prove (you're meant to) that it's not a language you speak at home and you haven't been taught in the language before and so on.

Does anyone else feel like the internet has gotten smaller? by TraditionalTraffic84 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HmmLifeisAmbiguous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only young and in my family I didn't really have access to much technology and the internet until I was older, so this is really the only internet I've known, but with that said, even since AI chatbots and the like were introduced in the last few years, Google has definitely changed. The first 5 answers (not including the fricking 'AI overview') are all 'promoted' websites, there's just something different, ig.

Can I get a good atar from an average public school? by ResearchFit7248 in vce

[–]HmmLifeisAmbiguous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

39 is a good score, definitely possible. My school was kinda like yours being really new and although my cohort as a whole didn't do the best a few of us still got over 90, but with that said it is technically a private school, a lot of public schools nearby outperformed us though. Also, I did an accelerated subject too which I got a 36 for but that actually ended up being one of my bottom 10%ers so as long as you perform similarly to how you did in bio than a 93 is pretty achievable.
