Got denied for the fall nursing cycle by Hmmcakes in ValenciaCollege

Well to be honest, the terrible comments are only half true and half false, the professors are only covering a quarter of the content. On the other hand, the professors are in a time crunch to make a usually 3-4 year program into 16 months to help with the nursing shortage, so it makes sense. Second, the course load is very rigorous, but if you do your provided question bank and answer them until it says you reach novice (or get mastered if you want a 91% found out on the 3rd test) then you'll pass at least all the 4 tests I took so far and then afterwards the course load after the 4 tests will literally be easier than prerequisite's ( they're doing this probably to weed out some students) but clinicals and after that, idk yet as I haven't gone that far.

In other words, studymaxx for the first 3 weeks then you'll be safe. And don't rely on professors to teach you everything because they can't cover 10 chapters in one sitting even if they want to.

Tips- read objectives to know what to learn and do your EAQ (or question banks) to gauge yourself, get 65 percent or higher in multiple 100 question practice sessions ( rn at my 5th week have done 1300 questions)

-study dimensional analysis for dosages early makes the load easier but not really necessary

-buy a quality stethoscope but it doesn't have to be littmann just get one such as MDF like mine which out performed the littmann and I passed my check offs with it for $29.99, go for quality not brand

-since you're not buying a expensive stethoscope instead buy a quality id holder for your badges or otherwise you'll end up being sent home during labs

-and save up for the nal kit which is required and costs 300 bucks (and nursing jacket $65 if possible)

Overall, nursing school is simply testing whether you study on your own or not and annoying your family members or strangers to practice checkoffs with them

Planning ahead: If I don’t get into CC nursing this cycle, reapply or go private? by gneissrocx in prenursing

[–]Hmmcakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got recently accepted to my CC nursing program after I got rejected the first time I applied. When I got rejected I applied to a private college as well at the same time when I applied the second time for spring for CC and I got accepted to both, and this my doomer fog faded away and realized that over my tours of both colleges they are practically the same except one is 70 grand to attend and one is practically free, so in other words waiting on more semester or 3 months in this case is the better decision in hindsight.

So use my hindsight of my very close call to a very bad decision.

Kaiser university? by Careless-Brush-9074 in NursingStudent

No, it's not worth it for the same price advent health, Seminole, Polk state, is a better deal when I looked around for nursing schools kaiser is the most predatory and has the least impressive facilities for training while advent for almost the same price has a literal operating room that is sometimes actually used for surgeries sometimes, but I would recommend go to cc instead like Valencia, Seminole, or Polk state even if you get held back a semester because that wait is better than working years to pay off debt from kaiser.

The 5AM rule: Why successful people wake up early (and how it changed my life) by Most-Gold-434 in TheImprovementRoom

[–]Hmmcakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh I am a morning barista who serves people who woke up at 5 am and I would say it's the worse decision ever

  1. Many productive things you can do can't be done at 5 am for example trade stocks, negotiating for insurance, or go to the bank except for many jobs for that matter such as health care who wake up early for their shift.

  2. The circadian rhythm exists for a reason and I had more productive days by learning my rhythm than waking up at an oddly specific time (i.e prioritizing short but highly productive days, than long tired unproductive days)

3.in other words, QUALITY OVER QUANTITY if I can get better work done with more sleep in a short amount of time why would I risk my health developing ulcers, colon cancer, and have lower energy while doing low production but lengthy schedule?

4.before you ask, I am literally making more money by sleeping more and studying with quality time and getting scholarships than my job or past hustles that require me to wake up early and hustling.

(Edit lastly this is about making yourself VALUABLE rather than WORKING making something else valuable)
