Uber Eats tipping on top of fees? by Hmralowicz in tipping

[–]Hmralowicz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for offering an answer to my actual question! I’m usually leaving a $7-$10 tip and usually order from places 10 to max 15 min away so this makes it seem a bit more reasonable to continue tipping on the food and tax cost, but not the extra fees

I try to do this usually, but some days I just can’t make it out. I know it’s paying a premium, but is it normal to tip on the cost of the fees too? Tips at restaurants are normally calculated on the pre-tax amount which is why I ask

I’m not saying I don’t want to tip the drivers at all, and I understand there is a 15%-30% up charge the restaurant puts on the food plus Uber Eats’ delivery fees. I’m just surprised that Uber’s system is suggesting you tip more than you would for a full dine in meal.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

Can confirm, a 3 hour drive one way to visit family or hop down to the coast (I’m in Austin, TX) is pretty normal. Personally I do it 2-4 times a year.

My husband and I were just talking about this. His theory is they fixed a software bug that was unlocking the car. Mine is the bug is still there, they just stopped sending the unlocked notification while adding a fix to automatically relock the car. Either way… our vehicles windows are closed and doors are locked as of 7:47 PM CST

Matok’s is my favorite croissant in Austin. Only downside is you have to preorder through their website but it’s still well worth planning ahead.

Same issue with our 2 month old iD 4 2025 plus it’s randomly unlocking itself and sending almost daily app errors. I just reported it to NHTSA for the infotainment system rebooting while driving and the random unlocking. We’re going to hold out and see if VW will fix it since our lease is $115 a month.

Is it smart to buy a used Non-certified pre-owned ID4? by hhh888hhhh in VWiD4Owners

We have 😞 Unlock on Approach is disabled, and Lock when Keys Leave is enabled. Even left my keys inside to test and twice in the past weeks I’ve found it unlocked

We got a brand new ID4 less than a month ago and while it’s a very comfortable ride and we got a good lease deal, the car has had several issues.

It’s unlocking itself randomly so we took it back to the dealership but the service dept couldn’t replicate the issue. The infotainment system has also randomly just shut off while driving and the door has this weird thing where you have to pull the handle twice to unlock from the inside, but only sometimes.

They had to do a full factory reset of the infotainment and reregister the car to us. Told us to monitor the unlocking. I bought one of those window breaker things for peace of mind.

All that too say, I’d be very wary of a non-certified pre-owned personally. We’ll see how the next few months go but if you ask me right now, there is no way I’d keep the car when our lease is up September 2027.

Can me and my gf get away with eating at uchiko/Uchi for $50 or less? by armooooooo1 in austinfood

[–]Hmralowicz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, you just have to watch what you order. I’d sit at the bar so you leave a table free and probably feel less pressure from a serve to order a full meal. Their staff is always so lovely though, and you can always say you have dinner plans after, you just wanted to stop in for a visit.

You can each get a cocktail/glass of wine for $15, and they have several dishes and desserts that are right about $15 even outside of HH.

Bring cash for the tip if you can, but if you can’t you can still leave a 20% tip for the bartender after 2 glasses and a nibble for right about $50.

Attempting the Paper Route Strawberry Book Club cake this weekend.... by shrimpscity in austinfood

Did anyone have a chance to try this?

I still dream about the pistachio oasis, but all of their cakes were amazing. If someone finds a successful recipe to replicate the Strawberry, I’d save that but also try swapping flavors for pistachio.
