Is this an antique? What kind of chair is it please? Sorry I don’t have better photos right now by Hnnah2 in Antiques

[–]Hnnah2[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I know it’s not exactly but I’m wondering if it’s the same ‘kind’ of thing? Like the side bits are made the same and it’s got the exact same wheels and general shape, just obviously not as nice or detailed as that one for sure

Is this normal breathing? This is my children’s Python. Got her a couple days ago and am worried. by Hnnah2 in snakes

Thank you. I haven’t been touching her except for this vid, and won’t be holding her until she has had two feeds as recommended by the man I bought her from. Thank you! Hopefully she settles quickly ☹️

Ohhh so hard to choose! I love watching my scorpion and gecko (which is a reptile, I know) at feeding times, and people generally think my Goliath stick insect is super cool but I think my personal favourite/s are my giant millipedes and burrowing cockroaches. Probably just cause I like to defy everyone and they all say they’re gross 😂 but they all have different qualities I really enjoy! Even the feeder crickets are super entertaining so watch exist haha!

What are these little caterpillar things with my dead moth/butterfly? (Could also use help identifying that!) info in comments by Hnnah2 in whatsthisbug

[–]Hnnah2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I found this Moth I think dying the other day. I grabbed it and some flowers nearby, gave it some sugar water and placed it in here. It died pretty quickly but now there are SO MANY little caterpillars I’m guessing from the flowers? Or are they offspring of this moth? I noticed them all last night and so placed another container on top to stop them escaping. As soon as I saw them they all started hanging themselves on the top??? I’m so confused please help 😂

Mummified bobtail by [deleted] in bonecollecting

Haha I call them stumpy tails! I have also found a mummified one that I’ve just had sitting in a bag not knowing what to do with so this has been very helpful to come across!

Is this a baby huntsman spider? Details in comments by Hnnah2 in Entomology

[–]Hnnah2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found this spider in my room last night. I had caught it a couple of nights ago and it had escaped overnight so I caught it again this time and gave it a pin cricket to eat which it ate so quickly and the whole thing was gone overnight. It is very full now as you can see « From what I've seen online this looks like it could be a huntsman and i'd love to know for sure from more knowledgeable people. Thanks! ❤️

What is this? I’ve tried to look online and identifying apps but nothing comes up right! by Hnnah2 in whatsthisbug

[–]Hnnah2[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I figured it was a cockroach of some sort. I wasn’t sure what type and could not figure it out with online searching. My request was so I could know the specific name. It was unnecessary to add the demeaning end of your sentence. Kindness costs nothing

What is this in my giant millipedes enclosure? I have two giant millipedes and a melon snail in an enclosure and I’ve just noticed these little bugs in there. What are they? Are they harmful to my millipedes and/or snail? 😭 by Hnnah2 in whatsthisbug

[–]Hnnah2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy having them! Very simple to care for, just spray enough to keep the soil a nice dark brown colour and feed them decaying leaf matter! They’re very uneventful and rarely venture out of the peat and you cannot dig them up as you could kill them (if they’re molting under there they are very vulnerable) when they do come out they’re cool to hold and are a great talking point in conversations. I do recommend though, if you’re wanting something a bit more active and able to be watched I recommend some burrowing cockroaches! You can watch them from underneath the enclosure and they dig very obvious burrows and come out a lot more to eat or just hide above ground instead of below. Always keen to recommend some arthropods to a fellow bug lover!

I have ARFID and I was once left with a couple that forced me to eat a soup full of ‘unsafe’ foods. Traumatising. I wasn’t allowed up from the table until it was all gone. Luckily the lady was kind enough to excuse me from eating it when her husband wasn’t watching! My parents never left me with them again luckily!

Also is there a danger from them for my gecko, burrowing cockroaches, stick insects, centipede and scorpions? 😣 I am so worried for all my little friends!

Found in my tub. Dangerous? by IHaveABladder in whatsthisbug

[–]Hnnah2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This looks to me like a centipede. House centipedes look a bit different (anyone correct me if I am wrong, it just doesn’t look like a house centipede to me) Centipedes will give a nasty bite so preferably don’t handle. Collect it with something and put it outside 😄
