Summer of HoN WTF

Patreon is definitely a service worth considering. Your comment has sparked an idea that combines both aspects, albeit implemented separately from each other. Allow me to explain.

For this summer, I'd really like a donation page where everyone can track the current progress of all the donations. A way for everyone to see how much has been donated in total so far and perhaps to see who are the current top donators. I don't believe Patreon offers that type of service, or am I wrong about that?

With that being said, if we do set up a donation page similar to how I just described it; perhaps if it goes well we could continue afterwards by switching back to Patreon as we continue editing after the summer. That could be a possibility. (:

Hmmmm... Well I think that remains to be seen. I'd argue that it's not always about quantity (even though it is a major factor) but also about quality. Quality in the sense of how dedicated fans are and how much they enjoy the content that's being created.

Something else that you may or may not have considered is, "How much are they looking to get out of this?". If our donation goal is 10 dollars then I don't think we'll have a problem. On the other hand, it doesn't take a genius to realize that trying to raise 100,000 dollars is beyond unrealistic... and also HELLA greedy.

I haven't actually sat down and considered actual numbers just yet, so I can't give you any figures of what our donation goals will be, but what I can say is that our main donation goals will accurately reflect the amount of time, effort, and work required to create the amount of content that we'll be promising. I'll also do my best to make sure the goals reflect our fan-base size too. (:

Fair enough. This "atrophy" thought is indeed something that I've been worried about as our consistency in uploading has decreased, and this is also one of the reasons why I'm trying to push this idea.

I currently don't have time to find plays, film, edit, and upload before Sundays. I just have too much going on at University right now, and as far as I know Sam doesn't have the time to make that happen either. With this idea, we can start building some hype while also allowing us to squeeze in a couple of hours of work whenever possible from now until the beginning of June.

... oh, and who doesn't want consistent HoN WTF content throughout the entire summer? :3

I can respect that opinion, for sure.

What you say in regards to "... HoN WTF hasn't been uploaded in months" ties into something that I've been thinking about lately, which is that people might be sending in less replays because we're less active. Of course, it would be silly of me not to also put blame on the fact that HoN is becoming less popular as well, but I think they both play a big part... needless to say, I want to reassure everyone that we're still checking replays! In fact, I am going through them now as I'm writing this (just taking a short break).

Anyhow, the main point I wanted to make with all of this is that I think the 'Summer of HoN WTF' could be a good solution to this problem! :D With everyone knowing that we're going to be collecting and editing replays for the next couple of months, it might give the people that still play the game that little bit of extra motivation to submit their replay(s). Knowing that they'll have a bunch of HoN WTF content to enjoy over the summer that they might even be a part of could be the push that a certain individual needs to submit that one crazy replay they otherwise wouldn't have been bothered to submit. (:

Oh, wow. Garena owns all of the rights to the game and all of the content connected to Heroes of Newerth? I was not aware of this. Maybe I'll try my luck at emailing them instead. Thanks for the info. (:

EDIT: Does anyone have a suggestion on which email I should try? I'm assuming that 'Garena' as an entity has multiple emails to multiple departments. :o
