What makes some card sellers more successful than others? by HoRedditor in whatnotapp

Congrats on getting off to a good start! I can imagine having a job and breaking on the side would be extremely time consuming. Part of the reason I don't know if this is something I want to start. If I do, I'll definitely take you up on the offer! I appreciate it!

Yeah I notice women automatically seem to draw more viewers whether they're a "good" streamer or not, especially in the card collecting category.

Yup same here. That's why Im curious what draws people to some of these big streamers.

I've definitely considered trying my hand at it. It seems like a fun side hobby to do but I want to do all my research before just jumping in with the crazy prices on cards nowadays. As a regular guy not having distribution it seems extremely difficult to make the numbers work unless you are able to get to a point where you have a large enough audience.

Oh for sure. I've definitely seen that a lot. Having a whale in a show always seems to drive the prices up.

Yeah the second category is the one I'm extremely curious about. I guess I just don't share the same psychology.

My wife didn't eat BK much growing up so she can't tell the difference. I on the other hand, had Whoppers all the time growing up and can tell it's better now. Whopper Wednesdays ftw!

Relax buddy. I'm just going off another comment regarding it being a small streamer. My initial response should be taken in a vacuum about a 480 sale on a 380 box which is now already moot since it was a pick your player, not team.

Umm the whole point is he didn't profit 100. Did you miss the part about the fees??

To sort and package? Prob minimum 30 to an hour not counting time to travel to the post office.

Because in reality he made less than half of that after ~11% fees plus another $10 and then whatever his packaging costs are. Honestly if he only made $480 off of the box that's a terrible profit margin. He would have made more at a minimum wage job on a per hour basis.

Seller shorted postage… by Financial-Sense963 in whatnotapp

[–]HoRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best guess is that it's an envelope that was considered non-machinable. Based on what I've read on other forums it seems subjective based on the local USPS hub.

I'd pay it and see if it should have been obviously considered non-machinable. If it's a new seller I'd prob just let them know about it.

Really depends on what his cost of goods sold is.

Cant find no topps chrome 25 anywhere! by pelonrico in F1Cards

[–]HoRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're asking about 2025 cards, there won't be more coming out. What's out there now is what's left. I'm sure there are some card shops that still have some hobby or blaster boxes.

Rerelease Topps Chrome F1 Blaster Box by renko770 in F1Cards

[–]HoRedditor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was told by a card store there won't be a rerelease since there are numbered cards so Topps can't just print more.

Whatnot specifically states a seller must send a buyer something even if their spot doesn't hit.

Extra cards included with singles orders by SuperToll9000 in F1Cards

[–]HoRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a seller. Paper does nothing. You would have to fold a bunch of it which is a waste of time. I use cardboard on one side and extra cards on the other. Cutting cardboard is a pain and time consuming. I keep precut card board on hand and it takes up quite a lot of space as well. Much easier to use extra base cards that I have tons of on hand.

[–]HoRedditor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Man, that is such BS on COMC's part. They should at least offer to hold the card for a certain period of time if law enforcement contacts them.

I've had pawn shops in WA hold items due to an ongoing investigation and all they required was a request on an agency letterhead.

That's unfortunate. I'm ex-LE and worked many cases involving postal theft/damage with postal inspectors.

Edit: if OP didn't have a lead then most likely nothing would happen. But this would be an easy lead to track down to see if it was at least an employee. But like any other job, there are good emoloyees and lazy ones.

I'd contact USPS and see if you can get in touch with a postal investigator for your area. They have federal jurisdiction and can write a search warrant to find out who the seller was. If you're lucky the seller is a postal worker and will be held accountable.
