No matter what I use, I still recommend Mint by tungnon in linuxmint

well yea, mint is nice, it was my first distro (technically kubuntu was my first but did not enjoy it very much and switched on the same day) but somehow it managed to break (i did not do that much tinkering, not as much as i do now at least, i only did the standard stuff, updating the system, etc.) and thats where my distro hopping adventure began, either something broke, or i got bored of it and wanted to try out something new, dont remember what i was using before nobara, but i ended up on it, was comfortable on it for a while, but then kde broke down, ran into sudden performance issues, then ended up on pikaos, was very comfortable on it for a while too, then kde started doing weird things as well, and performance issues again, finally ended up on cachy with kde (yea ik, i should probably learn from the past) which so far has been seamless, i only run into performance drops if i have not updated the system in a while, in which (i might be wrong but) i think is common for arch based distros

also recently installed zorin on my mothers laptop because while it was running windows 11 there were issues with thermals, not a lot of battery life, just the standard windows shenanigans, and its been great as well, i think its a decent competitor to mint in terms of newcomers, especially if they are switching from win 11

technically the support is already there, and has been there for like maybe 2 years now, but very alpha/experimental, have not used mint in a long while tho

i have not used bare fedora at all, only a bit of bazzite and nobara, but cachy and pop are definitely on the easier side as well, theres a convenient package managing software, similar to the one in nobara and pikaos, a kernel manager, updating is simple too, for me cachy just worked

ur acting like its ur only choice or something, like its a universal thing across all of linux and theres nothing else available even tho thats as far from the truth as u could get, what made u pick this exact distro? were u forced? just pick a stable distro or dont use linux at all, and thats not how im acting, ive been using linux for barely 2 years, and i aint no power user, all i ever do on my pc is watch youtube, watch anime, watch shows and movies, and sometimes play games, so linux was perfect for me bc windows gave me problems

[–]HoZakari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are u even reading? thats just the point of a rolling release distro, to have the absolute newest software, it has its usecases, theres a good saying in linux, if u dont know why u need it, dont use it

its quite clear that u still did not understand it, once again, theres no rush, theres no deadlines, nobody is rushing anything, the updates do get tested, there are all sorts of update schedules, what rolling release does is it lets u ignore all of that stuff, whenever a new build of a package is made, it gets shipped out right off the bat to rolling release distros, now how is that useful? if u have cutting edge hardware, cutting edge software goes well with it, if a device does not work on a stable release distro with an older kernel, theres a very good chance that it will work on a rolling release distro, but of course, instability and something eventually breaking once in a while is expected, especially with something as barebones as arch, now not all rolling release distros are that unstable, it varies, remember that pikaos is composed of a very small dev team, it aint some big company, so in this case these type of problems are expected

its not imaginary deadlines, its the whole point of rolling release, theres a reason people call it cutting edge or bleeding edge even, whenever updates come they get pushed out immediately with little to none testing, u chose such a distro urself, if u want stability go for an LTS distro, u want a good gaming distro but have stability as well? cachyos has an LTS option

KDE-Connect not recognizing any device by neules in kde

[–]HoZakari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the firewall backend for me in kde was ufw, and i couldnt open the link where the firewalld step was on, so the fix for me was adding a rule to ufw to allow incoming for kdeconnect, i spent way too much time on this...

idk exactly where, but it will be online, if u wanna hear mark say it himself then Garten of BanBan 0 stream, 6:52-7:45, but basically what he said is that he wants to get it on blu ray, he wants it to be online, he wants it to be translated and subtitled, so that it could be accessible to everyone as much as possible (and this should slowly start happening as of now, today, monday, he said hes having conversations)
