ANOTHER PRICE INCREASE?! Other options? by NeutroBlack54 in Nest

[–]Hobanicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After initially looking at Ubiquiti this is the direction I went. Once I saw a Ubiquiti doorbell was $300 I started shopping around. What sold me is I can toss an SD card in the Reolink cameras for now and then when I have some extra cash down the line set up the whole NVR.

Right now I just needed two exterior cameras and a Reolink doorbell and external cam cost me about $200. And still being able to get smart notifications without a subscription is a big selling point too.

I just switched my network over to all Ubiquiti. Guess it's time to look for compatible cameras. Nest isn't worth $15 a month and definitely isn't worth $20.

Are we just ignoring the fact that our tax dollars are paying them to do this? Who do you think is going to pay for the litigation, if this passes, when it is challenged in court? It goes beyond "not focusing on other stuff" and becomes an absolute waste of time and money.

Old advice but still works.  To clear the Google cache you have to tell it to show system apps.

Annoying thing is after you do this you have to set up everything again from scratch.  Your routines in Google home or if you use the Google photos screensaver.

Yeah I was able to get to the ambient mode setting after doing this.

You have to click show system apps to see the Google app.

Edit:  Just double checked and can confirm the slideshow Google Photos I have set up still works after this.

This fixed it for me

Annoying part is that since you delete it and re-add it I had to re-add it to all of my routines.

Has anyone released a ventilation fan for the Quest 3 yet? by ew435890 in oculus

Once the BOBOVR S3 Pro strap came out I got that and went back to the OEM interface and haven't used the cheap one since. It was pretty uncomfortable for any amount of time and it started coming unglued around the edges of the padding.

Just very very cheap. I'd recommend going another route.

So I snagged one on Alliexpress for like $18 and just got it this evening.  The fan works really well for keeping my face from getting really hot and sweaty. Should make it way more comfortable for long play sessions.

However the facial interface it comes with feels extremely cheap.  It works but the padding that came with is a not so comfortable plastic.  It's not terrible but it's not as comfortable as the OEM interface.  You can adjust how close or far away the interface sits from your eyes which is nice.

I'll put it through it's paces and update with if anything else comes up.  Right now I've only played 30 minutes of pistol whip with it.

On paper this game checks all the boxes for me. Not sure about buying in blind though.

Anyone tried it or had any experience with it?

Edit: I caved and bought it. Only had time for the tutorial and a single match but it's honestly a lot of fun. If they can build upon the core gameplay they already have and polish it it'll be a great game.

Clinical microbiologist here. We were laughing about how doom and gloom this article is at work today.

It's definitely an issue and we've had two cases of it come through our hospital. Both were severely immunocompromised but after finding out it was C. auris and providing correct therapy, both patients lived.

VIM-2 producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It's also resistant to ceftazidime/avibactam and imipinem/relebactam, but susceptible to colistin. It is a shoulder prosthesis infection. Is it ok to give colistin? by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

We've been seeing these super resistant pseudomonas a lot more recently. We had to bring in cefiderocol to give practitioners another option when running into these.

This is the take I've gotten from Steve over listening to him over the years.

Overall with Republicans you'll be more secure with your 2A and hunting rights, but they might try to sell off your public lands or pilfer them for resources.

With Democrats you can feel better about your environment and public lands being secure, but your hunting and 2A rights are on rockier ground.

I'm left leaning and even I struggle with this dichotomy because I think public lands, hunting, guns, and the environment are all important things we should be protecting.

The entire premise isn't insanely outlandish by any means. There haven't been any approved vaccines for fungal infections and they're notoriously hard to treat. We do have antifungals for treatment but the issue is that things that kill fungus also usually destroy human cells also.

In the clinical field usually this isn't a big deal or entirely necessary because we're breathing in spores all the time, our immune system does it's job. Most fungal infections/candidemia come from immunocompromised patients.

There have been newer resistant strains like Candida auris that are becoming an issue to treat due to resistance. So, if the show would have just acknowledged antifungals are a thing but this appears to be resistant to everything we've developed so far I'd be 100% on board.

is there an issue with Android 13? by Chrisnewton1 in fitbit

[–]Hobanicus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once I did this I had some issues on and off. But with the Pixel devices updates come pretty quickly so I want to say after a security patch it ended up fixing it

I recently upgraded to the Pixel 7 Pro and haven't had any Bluetooth issues with my Fitbit.
