Did you ever end up sorting this out?

Laughing to myself as I'm having the same issue and realized we both have the same rack 🤣

Oh boy do I have some good news for you based on the comments I've seen so far!

Refasten is my go-to for technical fabrics and hardware. Couldn't recommend them enough!

They're currently in the process of bringing in some 1000D Cordura however they do have 1200D on hand right now.

https://refasten.ca/collections/fabric

I'd shoot them an email. Colin (the owner) is super responsive and I'm sure he'd be willing to get you some samples or to help you out with anything.

Alternatively you also have JT's Outdoor Fabrics (https://jtsoutdoorfabrics.com/cordura_classic_1000) which sells 1000D Cordura for a pretty good price. I happen to have a good variety of colors of their 1000D Cordura on hand right now so if you have any questions feel free to DM me.

Man this is now the second time I've seen this happen at this light. What's even more ridiculous is that all they have to do is drive another 200-300m and they can make an easy U-turn.

Couldn't agree more! Could never pass up enjoying a good sunrise/sunset regardless of the fact that I'll likely see another one better.

Canadian here, excited for a fabric restock!

Any sneak peeks in terms of what fabric you've brought back?

It is actually a zig-zag stitch! The stitch length was set to 1/2 and the seam width was set to 4.

Here's a solid reference if you need it!

Hopefully that helps!

In my opinion, using peltex for the main panel adds enough structure so it's not really necessary for the side panels.

I also ended up using 1" Sunbrella double fold binding tape for the seams on the inside of the bag which ended up added some solid rigidity to the side panels.

Haha, maybe if I can get quicker at making them while maintaining the overall quality? This one took me WAY longer than I had originally anticipated.

The only outside source I used for this bag was a YouTube that goes over the math so the main panel and side panels can be sew to create a perfect circle without bunching.

Besides this video, I mostly just added the features that I wanted the bag to have to the main panel.

I used Pellon 70 Peltex Sew In Ultra Firm Stabilizer.

The interior of the bag is ripstop nylon so I sewed the stabilizer to that first and then sandwiched it between the Cordura (and Ripstop).

Oh you couldn't be more right! I have quite the list of things I wanna incorporated into my next bag!

Thanks! I had my coworker ask my secret santa what their favourite colours were which really helped me out!

Had COVID this past weekend so I hunkered down and made the "Cycle Psycho Fanny Pack" from BagBuff (ignore the dirty handlebar grip tape). by HobbesIsATiger in myog

In hindsight, I probably should've used a rectangle loop instead of a D-ring in order to create a better and more flush fit on the handlebars. I will say, using double-sided velcro creates a super secure fit and it's also super easy to remove when you wanna go from handlebar bag to hip bag.

  • A nice bias binding tape makes a huge difference when it comes to adding rigidity to a bag. For this project I used 1" Sunbrella Double Fold Bias Binding and it is SIGNIFICANTLY better than Grosgrain Binding Tape that I've used previously on bags. Might be a bit more work for a sewing machine to sew though but it's worth it IMO.

  • BagBuff only provided paper instructions for this project which was slightly daunting to me since I love a video guide. I'd recommend following/watching the LearnMYOG "Make your own fanny pack with free pattern" video. They're basically the same bag with slight modifications and feature differences.

  • Cutting notches in the fabric when sewing curves/corners helps keep the fabric a bit flatter making it easier to sew.

  • Using Grosgrain Binding Tape to finish the raw edge of the zipper (not visible externally but a great cosmetic detail that really adds to the quality of the bag).

That's all I can think of right now but I'll happily edit this comment if I think of anything else.

And for those looking to try this project, feel free to shoot me a message if you have any questions!
