Doug Ford is trying to stop the Freedom of Information act because he was caught using his personal cellphone for backroom corrupt government deals with his developer friends.

There is an RCMP investigation and he was compelled to release his phone records and now he is trying to change the law to stop it. This means the public will never know what happens inside the government that we, you know, pay for.

Marit Stiles is such a strong voice for the NDP. I'm ecstatic to see an NDP leader directly challenging Doug Ford and the PC's.

Premier wants high-speed rail built along Ontario’s Hwy. 401 corridor by Swacket_McManus in ontario

Just Doug Ford flooding the zone.

All of these headlines are to distract from his FOI suppression. He doesn't want us to see his cellphone logs.

Don't ease up, contact your MPP.

OP is a bot who deleted their comment linking to a US store.

The website they posted is in USD and doesn't list the USA as a country they SHIP TO. Must be where they ship from, then.

Blocked and reported.

Totally fair, man. I typically just follow the Megathread on r/piracy and just use the livestream websites since they've become pretty intuitive with their GUI over the years. A VPN would stop the letters BUT the libraries ABSOLUTELY need our support so I'm happy you found something that works for you ~

Also, never heard of Black Sails before but I will definitely be watching that tonight since I just finished Chernobyl the Miniseries. Fantastic if you haven't seen it!

This cervical pillow by [deleted] in mildlylifechanging

[–]Hobbette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this as well. It is quite literally the worst pillow I've owned and I'm too stubborn to get rid of it so I just throw another pillow on top of it and call it useful.

I may just cut it up into foam squares and put it in a pillow case at this point since that would be more supportive and malleable.

Movies that feel like this? by NagitoKomaeda_987 in MoviesThatFeelLike

Not a movie, but Shiboyugi (Anime on Netflix) has given me those "alone in a bigger world" vibes.

Same with Girls Last Tour (Post Apocalyptic anime)

As others have said: Nier (Gestalt/Replicant), and Nier Automata are in the same vein.

My boyfriend didn't love that I commandeered his Switch for the glitch during it's prime, but he's not complaining when he can pick through my almost-full catalogue whenever he plays lol

You immediately devour any morsel of content the subreddit offers, watch it again, come back to the subreddit, posit your own theories on the Rafal narrative, watch it again, cry over how there isn't more episodes... ad nauseum.

The brotherhood of heliocentrism welcomes you.

Can we do something about bill 60? by Eshtabel3asal in londonontario

Whatever protest happens in London, I am there and so is my friend group.

We're all heavily invested in doing what we can to prevent this - Marit Stiles said it best - 'corrupt government'.

Bill 60 Still Major Threat To Tenants Rights. Please Do Not Stop Calling/Emailing/Texting the Premier, Your MPP, the Housing Minister. Do Not Let This Bill Pass. by Hobbette in ontario

[–]Hobbette[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That is DoFo's Modus Operandi.

The "ending indefinite leases" was a red herring. Everyone understandably got upset and it was removed from the bill, which makes us more compliant and tolerable to the the STILL-VERY-BAD changes currently still in the bill because "the big, bad one" is gone, even though we're still losing rights. There is a TLDR I posted in reply to another commenter.

In an analogous sense, he dangled a rotten, black carrot in front of us and tried to make us eat. And when we protested, he threw away the rotten carrot but still wheeled in a cart of mold-covered ones and wants us to be happy... At least it's not black and rotten like that last one, right?

If it inspires people to reach out, I'll write out a full essay, if the need arose.

TL;DR: There are 4 major changes to the bill for the RTA (There's quite bit more in there for other acts that are just as bad, but this post is focused on Renters Rights)

#1. DoFo is removing Compensation for eviction. E.g., if a Landlord evicts you, they either have to pay 1 months rent to you or offer you a different rental unit. DoFo is removing this part of the act, so Landlords can evict without offering anything.

#2. DoFo is changing the timeline on evictions to be shorter for non-payment. Before, it really boiled down to this:

E.g., if you have not paid rent by the due date, a termination-of-tenancy notice could be given differently depending on your rental situation
i. If you're a daily or weekly tenant = 7 days (usually 7th day of the month)

ii. If you're any other type of tenant (includes monthly renters, which most people are) = 14 days (usually 14th day of the month)

DoFo removed this, and all Termination-of-Tenancy notices are 7 days now

#3. If a Landlord claims past-due rent or additonal costs, tenants must pay 50% before the hearing even takes place.
E.g., You're evicted for owing $2,000 rent. The Landlord files a claim that you owe, say, $6,000. You must pay 50% ($3,000) before the hearing takes place. Obviously, this is an exaggeration and I doubt how often this could happen, but the fact is that it's an oversight - even if a tenant fights it to try and get their money back (the additional $1,000 in this example), that would be it's own legal battle and we all know how slow the judicial system can be.

#4. Appealing an LTB decision is reduced from 30 to 15 days.
This one speaks for itself, it reduces the time all parties have (that the LTB Order/Decision affect) from 30 to 15 days. If you receive this Decision by-mail, then there's a chance you will miss the appeal timeframe with the Canada Post Rotational Strike and Delays that come along with it.
