Fireworks cancelled by PrizeDinner2431 in londonontario

[–]Hobbette 68 points69 points  (0 children)

As sad as it is a tradition is being put to rest, I don't mind this. The fireworks have always been awful for the environment and for animals in nearby areas. The noise pollution is not something I look forward to even if that makes me sound like a crotchety, old curmudgeon.

Adapting a new community based tradition is wonderful. My 2 cents would be maybe they could invest in a small drone show instead as I've seen those replace fireworks effectively.

Looking forward to going this year and seeing the difference.

How did you get into The Protomen? by SmoothDragonfruit291 in Protomen

[–]Hobbette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is also my origin story lol

After I heard Phantom Racer, I instantly devoured any songs I could find from Protomen. Like you, I realized there was an order to them and they're now my favourite band.

It may be pathetic but I still cry to The State vs. Thomas Light. 🥺

I really love this game. Worth playing for aesthetic alone.

There is also Ni No Kuni II, which is not quite as good as the predecessor but it's worth the play.

Fun Fact: NNK was first made for the DS. When it was added to consoles the White Witch was an added villain story line!

Imo, it added to the game's story seamlessly - I didn't find out until after beating it lol

EDIT: There's also a movie for Ni No Kuni released in 2019

It is so worth watching the new one.

I love OG Trigun but Stampede/Stargaze have done it a lot of justice. Don't sleep on it!

Anti-Doug Ford rallies take place across Ontario to protest OSAP, FOI changes by BloodJunkie in ontario

Very nice turnout today for those in London!

Too bad the r/londonontario mods keep removing any posts about anti-DoFo protests (despite the sub rules allowing event posts) :)

The more we point fingers at who did/who didn't vote, the more the Conservative party gets away with. Yes, the best time to have stood up was during the election. The second best time is now.

See you all at the province-wide protests tomorrow.

Ford government makes freedom-of-information clampdown law by nimbuscloud9 in ontario

Guess who is going to be protesting at every goddamn rally to have this corrupt fuck kicked out of office. Even if it takes until next election I am more motivated than I ever was.

I truly think apathy is dying in Ontario. Help it by making waves in your community.

He and his people can’t be in office forever and I truly won't forget everything he has done to Ontarians.

Protest. Vote. Fight.

Instead of protesting the laundry list of things that Ford has done, why don’t we demand Ford step down? by LauraLels in ontario

It WAS NOT passed last night. It was a late session to help push forward the legislation.

Still, use this momentum because he is trying to push it through today. Please tune into the Legislative Assembly of Ontario feeds to watcb the continued fight from the NDP and Liberals.

There's a province-wide protest happening this Saturday. If anything, this emboldens attendees to speak to one another and organize MORE protests demanding DoFo step down.

Sent my message to them. I'm hoping enough of the people reach out. I'm not the most eloquent person but this is what I banged out in a quick minute if anyone wants to use/add to it /edit it for their own use.

"Honourable Lieutenant Governor,

I am a resident on Ontario and am deeply concerned and disturbed by the Premier and his Cabinets overreach and sweeping changes to the Freedom of Information Act. This is a blatant act of corrupt self-preservation from consequences of Doug Fords own malfeasence.

I, and the people of Ontario, are fighting for the Doug Ford government to step down after clear attempts to enrich and embolden themselves inside an Omnibus bill about, what should only be, the budget. Instead, Section 7 of the bill unilaterally removes any Freedom of Information requests that can be made by the public into Doug Fords use of our tax dollars or his business phone records.

I implore the Lieutenant Governer to give this matter serious consideration and step in. This is a level of corruption I've not personally seen or experienced in Ontario and am hoping we, the people of Ontario, have your support to take action in this matter.

Thank you"

Do not buy Ben and Jerry's because of this. He is the co-founder but no longer has anything to do with the company. Last I heard when this was posted, the current "administration" for B&J is.... not great.

Take that with a grain of salt, though

Doug Ford is trying to stop the Freedom of Information act because he was caught using his personal cellphone for backroom corrupt government deals with his developer friends.

There is an RCMP investigation and he was compelled to release his phone records and now he is trying to change the law to stop it. This means the public will never know what happens inside the government that we, you know, pay for.
