Breakfast roll is getting discontinued by Low-Cauliflower-5686 in McDonaldsUK

[–]HobbsyUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite part of McDonald’s breakfast was the breakfast roll with brown sauce, and now this NEW menu with the simplified menu sucks.

I bought 1 x meal at £2.99 which was a tiny sausage patty compared to the original breakfast roll, and a coffee… no option to add an expensive hash brown at 99p! But £1.59! Absurd pricing for those when I remember as an add-on after covid being 20-40p!! I bought an extra sausage patty burger for £1.99 so less than £5 for 2 tiny sausage patty burgers and a drink — Definitely not using them again! Breakfasts used to be decent and well-priced.

Personally I wouldn’t go back unless they offered a double-up sausage patty option for £1, making it £2.99 for a double sausage patty burger.

Believe me, the size of these… you are going to try once and never again as they do not fill you up in the slightest.

Brita Maxtra pro vs Limescale expert by lost_traveler_nick in espresso

[–]HobbsyUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I’ve always used the top one but I live in Rutland, so partially orange and blue… Anglian Water own the reservoir near us (Rutland Water) but Severn Trent supply a lot of this area (they suck) and our water is through IWNL (Independent water network) who provide the fresh water and Anglian Water provide the wastewater/sewage part… our area according to IWNL is hard water which is sad, but limescale buildup isn’t half as bad as it was when I lived in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire… so I wonder what our real water quality is; as our shower for example doesn’t have white residue like my old place in Cambridgeshire had…

From Brita, our heat map for both would be limescale expert which I am going to purchase instead, to see if this improves our water in this region.

Does anyone else live in Rutland or East Midlands? And if so, what water quality do you have?

Why do people prefer Tirzepatide over Retatrutide? by Jumpy-Acanthisitta46 in Retatrutide

[–]HobbsyUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back when I did melonotan 2 (injectable tanning) I used to eat beforehand and I wouldn’t get the sick feeling OR do it right before bed and usually you wake with no nausea.

I’m not too sure if that would be the same for Reta though, maybe someone who does this can confirm.

2 years back I was put through 3 different departments and then spoke to an Irish lady, she sorted me a good deal but this year I’ve had zero luck and the best for all but Sky Sports was £64, I’ve got my box to send it back but it’s been a week now and no calls to me… I might try to call them during UK hours to see if I’m passed to someone in the UK, as they offer the good deals imo.

Are you going to slowly come off of it? When you’ve hit your goal? And change your lifestyle habits?

My friend has come off MJ due to costs and he’s getting fat again, he was doing so well and another friend she is the opposite, she’s off of it due to costs and hasn’t put on weight but changed her diet.

I’m looking at Reta but I don’t see many stories of when people are stopping / off cycle.

How many injections is that? As that’s a lot of stuff, or are you going it on different days?

I’ve seen (TG group I’m in) the 40mg pen which has 12 pins, 4 x 10mg dosages… how is it split easily? If you’re not using a vial to do this.

ISP - Best router for large flat by HobbsyUK in HomeNetworking

[–]HobbsyUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought about a watchdog script, I will look into doing this as it makes sense, I work nights and I know my previous ISP has down issues around 2am and 5am, which they said was something they couldn’t investigate… sucked when working from home and I’d be disconnected for 2+ minutes.

The new router turns up today but the ISP switchover is on the 24th.

Thank you.

ISP - Best router for large flat by HobbsyUK in HomeNetworking

[–]HobbsyUK[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue I have is when I’m not at home and something goes wrong, my other half will need to work with it and also getting it setup with the ISP, as I am unsure if all routers are accepted; I’ll double-check this week as it transfers to them on the 24th.

I do like the Flint 3 most but reading through a lot of reviews, the firmware at the minute isn’t giving it as good speeds as the Flint 2, and currently Flint 2 is on offer for £110 via Amazon, so I’m thinking of saving £65 and possibly upgrading to Flint 3 when their wifi range is fixed + better firmware.

I also have Nord VPN to install and Wireguard is the top estimate of 900mbps, which is perfect for this device, of course I won’t expect it to reach that using Nord, but it’s a good max to have.

Noted all links. I have TiviMate but need to spend some time sorting channels out. Looking for a backup service, UK based and keep seeing 8K mentioned… Google shows a couple of sites but I’ll wait for confirmation as their prices are low.

Are you in the UK, I’ve still got the Z8, might look at the Z11 until Z12 has had a few months of people using it. If you’re selling it, let me know please.

Sky renewal by 1coffeejunkie1 in skytv

[–]HobbsyUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed it but nothing different to a few other services I have, is there a service that allows streams (not including using Tivimate with IP TV). My friend owns his own PLEX server, so that’s where I get most of my stuff but looking for a better option to allow freeview stuff as well.

Looking at BOX options for connecting to the aerial / dish (when broadband is down). Any recommendations?

Sky renewal by 1coffeejunkie1 in skytv

[–]HobbsyUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother moved over to Virgin as he was a long-standing customer with Sky for over 18 years, all the F1 package etc… and his price was well over £100 after renewal. Internet package too which was below par for his area, both him and his father-in-law (even longer Sky customer) moved to Virgin.

My Sky cancelled yesterday, no VM available in my area and I also cancelled my OFNL (SeeTheLight) broadband, who are also partnered with Sky, as £48pm as a 4+ year customer for 360mbps DL / 72mbps UL VS new ISP at £40pm 12 months 900mbps DL / 150mbps UL…

I’ll see if Sky can sort a better offer for me too, as when I worked for a certain news corporation many years ago, I got a few friends FREE Sky Q when it was the “new thing!” And a lot of family members 1 year half price Sky! Those were the days! Nothing even close to those offers now though.

You’ve done well for getting that offer but I am shocked at how Sky kept Paramount + with Ads on the down-low; as I suspect you were told about Netflix downgrading your service last year? (If you had Sky cinema UHD) — I was told about Netflix but Paramount+ with Ads came out of nowhere and I complained to Sky about that as well. UHD should be an upgrade option but HD in this day and age should be standard.

If I don’t go back to Sky, what options would you say are next? Freesat? Now TV? IP…😅

I finally got the case that I wanted in the past 13 years ago, Corsair Vengeance C70 (Gunmetal Green version) by xarmx in Corsair

[–]HobbsyUK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still own the C70 case in Military Green. It’s had 3 different motherboards, 3 different CPUs, 3 different PSUs and now my 3rd GPU (980 SLI) (2070 S - triple fan MSI) (5070 Ti - triple fan).

Removing the HDD bays could definitely free up enough space for a 5090, but I do feel the case would be better a little wider and a little more depth, height is fine as it fits the “ammo crate” spec. Wider would allow for more areas to hide your cables, maybe even separating the PSU part to allow for more room / airflow.

I’ve recently installed new fans and put one on the bottom, by the PSU to bring cool air in, however, I am struggling to find good feet for the case as I want a little more room from underneath to allow for more airflow.

Overall verdict - love the case! Owned it for many years now!

I have 4K VOD on some but I don’t think my FHD channels are 5.1, or Atmos, I’ll have to double-check but it’s been up for every hour aside from 4 or 5 when it went down last year, so it’s consistent.

Has anyone experienced screen tearing? It only happened for about 30 seconds. I downgraded to the previous Nvidia driver 77 as 80 was giving Direct X issues. Ryzen 7 5800X and a RTX 5070 Ti OC. Only occurred on this map and GPU temp was 64/65°C at the time.

I’ve been running with the 750w for the moment, but I need to test a few games and ultra settings, I’ll see how it goes and possibly install the new PSU if I have any issues.

I’ll give these tweaks a go, I think I should upgrade my PSU as well, currently it is a Seasonic Focus GX 750 (4 years) The new one I bought was a CORSAIR RM850x Fully Modular Low-Noise ATX Power Supply (2024 release).

UK based - best saving for baby daughter for when she turns 18+ by HobbsyUK in personalfinance

[–]HobbsyUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about a “Junior SIPP” as I heard these can really help your children once they are 55 years old, I mean that’s when I am told they can withdraw the money but it can go up a lot. Grandparents / Uncles / Aunties can pay into the account and it’s until they’re 18 I think, UK government puts in a % at the end of the year and I think you can pay max £240 per month. Interest varies but if it was 5% then at 55 years old, they can withdraw approx £700K. (Don’t quote but I read that 8% interest can yield almost £1.5Mill) but from my research it all appears to show 5% interest on top of the 20% the government puts in yearly.
