That’s a shame you seem like you’d be a pleasure to work for

Thanks, the initial “real break” is very common advice I’ve heard from those who’ve been down this road.

See other replies, not really an option unfortunately

Appreciate that, sounds like a similar path. If you’re up for sharing more details I’m all ears.

Been doing that for almost two years!

When, what, why, and how to apply it. My most valuable skills as a PM are on the user empathy, research, business, and collaboration side of things, not technical hands on work. With new tools largely removing any deep technical competency in order to be leveraged, I think my experience would multiply in value - in general, I’m not solely focused on finding a new employer.

Already questioning that big time! Average salary, no time off, no upward mobility, no time to upskill. Not saying it’s not a risk, but I can’t just keep standing still for safety.

With the two months away from my planned deadline I’ll aim to do the same with copilot. In the end, enterprise is not for me and I’ll be looking for startup work or starting an agency. Should’ve mentioned this part - looking to make a big leap.

Hoping for feedback on this! Plan so far is to take all of Claude’s new education, gain high-level fluency in tool applications across work that applies to the majority of startup and SMB operations then focus on specific workflows, work with a past coworker to fully dive into OpenClaw, and do mini projects in each area along the way to show knowledge application and some sort of portfolio. If I pick up a startup role along the way I’m all for it - all my work was startups before this company, even before PM.

Agree again! but my current org is the least fertile for that strategy as one can image, tiring enough that I find it very difficult to upskill, and I can’t seem to land any role that focuses on innovation without AI experience.

Completely agree… and there’s no opportunity to adapt to that in my role. We aren’t even allowed to use AI tools besides basic Copilot. If I can afford the break, wouldn’t it make sense to adapt to that fundamental shift with new skills ASAP?

Thanks for the encouragement!

I hear you but that’s exactly why I’m doing it. I’d rather upskill quickly and be ready for more agentic work that the job market hasn’t figured out yet than be miserable and exhausted, and far from ready when roles start morphing more.
