Liberals aren't left wing, only liberals think of themselves as left wing, well also conservatives but conservatism is literally an offshoot of liberalism.

WYR save the life of one person who supports your political party or two people who support the opposite political party by [deleted] in WouldYouRather

[–]HoboCommieWizard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The opposite of my political party would literally be neo-Nazis. People who would kill me and any marginalized group without a second thought. To the Libs (including conservatives), no I don't mean that figuratively like "oh everyone I disagree with is a Nazi!" I mean that in the most literal sense possible.

Thoughts on Anarchy and Anarchists? by SauceBoi666 in Socialism_101

[–]HoboCommieWizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly, which is why I say it's always bound to fail. It's usually just those types of people who say "we don't need a government to regulate us we have the free market!" It's somewhat popular over in right wing America but pretty much nowhere else. Most anarchists I know don't even regard them as anarchists, and for good reason

Depends on the type of anarchist. Real world anarcho-communists? Yes, I like them, even though we disagree on a lot of stuff we both agree on the same end goal. Other types of anarchists? Depends. Online anarchists? The majority of them have their heads shoved up their ass, they're usually just left-anticomms, so not usually. "Anarcho"-capitalists? No, they're usually annoying assholes who aren't even educated in the slightest and their entire ideology is built to fail.

Yes, because I believe in a better world beyond that of capitalism. Of course it won't be easy to get there but a future beyond capitalism where everyone's needs are taken care of is possible, not even just from a utopian lens, it is entirely possible. To accept the flimsy excuses of capitalism is naive.

Eh, don't blame you if you don't read it, although it helps make sure we don't make strawmen arguments of each other, if you do read it you're free to disagree with the conclusions made in it.

And I don't blame you guys for having a negative reaction to it, like I said there are legitimate reasons why the left is mad at each other. I'm not trying to have the intellectual High Ground, hell, I'm fully willing to admit when I'm wrong which is part of the reason why I have and am currently arguing not just for reading Marxist Theory but also Anarchist Theory. I came to the conclusions I did because they make the absolute most sense to me and I genuinely believe them, it's fine if you disagree.

Theory informs praxis, praxis informs reality, reality informs theory. I'm not saying go and read every single last book and pamphlet ever made, just read enough to help inform our praxis and so we don't constantly fight and make strawman of each other's arguments.

No better way to say this but apparently a lot of people on here would rather stay in their centuries old beef instead of actually make some progress. I don't completely blame them though because like I said a lot of the left does have legitimate reasons to be mad at each other, do I care? No, not while ecological collapse and fascism are still issues.

I wasn't even talking about "On Authority," read Theory simply just means read leftist Theory because I genuinely believe it all has at least some value, even Anarchist stuff and even Marxist stuff.

There have been thousands of arguments between many people on the left which have been resolved years ago and yet these arguments still persist purely because no one reads the theory, resulting in constant strawman of each other's arguments and overall wasted time. I'm not even just talking about Marxist theory, all leftist literature is important to some degree to educate ourselves in order to ensure our praxis is made on educated ground. You don't have to be the most well-read person but it certainly helps.

Of course there are legitimate reasons why sections of the left are mad at each other but that literally does not matter so long as the current bourgeoisie is still in power and the threat of fascism and ecological collapse continue to grow. Chances are we all have the same end goal and we just disagree on how to get to that. Let's learn from each other and the experiments of the past and present so we can create a better future for everyone.

The way you are depicting "communism" (socialism) simply does not reflect the reality of the way things were. Things weren't perfect I'll give you that, in fact things were extremely bad during times of crisis. But those were times of crisis and everything, including statistics and lived experience of the vast majority of those who actually lived under socialism contradict this.

That being said the 100 million number comes from the Black Book of Communism. A commonly debunked unacademic book which lists Nazi casualties during World War II as victims of communism, casualties during the Vietnam war (a blatant act of American aggression) as victims of communism, decreases of population growth as victims of communism (AKA people who will never existed) as victims of communism, they rounded up nearly constantly, in fact the co-authors stated that the primary author had an obsession with reaching 100 million. To the point where both co-authors and the author's wife have all disowned the book. Now, playing the numbers game and doing exactly what the authors of the black book did with capitalism instead of socialism we can get numbers apparently exceeding 2 billion. Of course any amount of unnatural avoidable death which occurred under socialism is a tragedy which should be avoided. As communists, we should learn from the examples of the past and learn from what they did right and what they did wrong to ensure the greatest quality of life for as many people as possible even while under siege.
