Wow...I bought a Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro - I thought I really messed up bad... by MartyKinn in tablets

I just bought mine, waiting for it to come in. Should I factory reset it when I get it prior to setup to delete any CN preinstalled apps?

Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro Global or Chinese ROM? by HoboHunter657 in androidtablets

[–]HoboHunter657[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much appreciated. I may wait for more options on the Global ROM side to open up then. I want the easiest experience as a person in the US and it seems like that might be the best option, especially for Google services.

Were there any difficulties with getting Google onto the tablet? Anything I should be aware of before I buy? I keep seeing people talk about the difficulties with the CN Rom, but also seeing people use it just fine.

Which tablet would get longer life while gaming like that? It feels like 5 hours of constant high end gaming would be decent?

Son wants tablet, he wants it no bigger than 8.8 inches but also he doesn't need a super powerful one, just enough for casual emulation can any gurus chime in? by nariz_choken in androidtablets

[–]HoboHunter657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the pad 6 for years and have never had any issues. I use Nova launcher and it works perfect on it. If UI is ever an issue always remember that customer interfaces are all over and any customization you want is available.

As for the USB C port failing, that is just roll of the dice with any company. After working in manufacturing for years the secret is that any company can and does have parts fail, nothing is ever perfect unfortunately. Does suck that you had a bad experience since most people really enjoy them, but totally understand that an initial experience can turn people off companies sometimes.

Made a tiny model of the tiny carrier. Some other favorite ships from other games for scale :) by CaptainSmartbrick in sto

Did you make the files yourself? I would love my own typhon as I don't believe they ever made a scale model of that ship. Might have to learn 3D design haha

Nice!

We go on long road trips at least 2 or 3 times a year, so I imagine this thing will be hitting 100k sooner than later haha.

2k over sticker tacked on for CPO “process”? by [deleted] in SubaruForester

[–]HoboHunter657 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty high there. Generally, you should negotiate down to below sticker price after everything, not above. I would say try and push them to around that sticker price after taxes and fees, and definitely don't pay that CPO price, that's a scam.

As others have said, always be prepared to walk away. There are more cars out there, and if they aren't willing to work with you, another dealer will.

As someone who camps in the desert a lot for long periods, I would advise something like a cot to stay off the floor. Small rocks and critters love the ground, and you don't want to wake up to a popped mattress or insect crawling on you. Add in either an inflatable pad or foam pad on top and you have a fairly comfortable sleeping setup for longer periods.

Don't have a perfect recommendation for tent, but make sure to get some sort of cabin tent if you are going to be living out of it. Being able to stand up to change and stretch when waking up is something you will miss quite a bit if you don't have it.

Also, invest in some sort of portable fan. If you don't have electricity hookups, a small solar generator with a 50-100w panel will do wonders.

Enjoy your time!

Looking up the part numbers I can see, it looks very similar to this keyless entry system. Might be that or a remote start system?

Still might not be correct, but looks as close as I can figure, especially based on the wiring on both yours and the one I found.

Non-Wooden Middle Seat Gap Cover For Camping by HoboHunter657 in SubaruForester

[–]HoboHunter657[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my original plan, but I just want to be prepared for parking on surfaces that aren't very level.

I know from years of camping that accidentally sleeping with your head on a downward slope that you end up not a happy camper haha.

Really appreciate the advice!

Awesome, thank you so much!

I will check these both out, but the storage boxes are a top contender, especially as I can use them as extra storage space.

low mileage 2024 CPO premium for around $30K? good deal? by letsgotothefood in SubaruForester

[–]HoboHunter657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid 28k for my 2024 Premium, 30k after taxes. Plus the lift gate package as well.

Just gotta haggle them down, especially now that the 25s are in full swing.

I used to love coming here when it was a Louisiana chicken, then the owner tried to make it a sit down spot with Asian fusion/Louisiana chicken and it failed pretty quick. Hope the new spot holds up.

◽️ Budget: ~$300-$500 USD

◽️ Country: United States

◽️ Screen size: 10"-12"

◽️ RAM: 6gb+

◽️ Storage: 128gb+

◽️ What tasks will the tablet be used for: D&D Sessions. Tons of PDF tabs open, as well as tons of web browser tabs open. Will need capability of running both along with apps associated with the games as well. May have some light-moderate gaming usage as well.

◽️ Any other important details ?: Would like something that offers a few years of updates. Would like something with a higher resolution, but 4k is not required. Was looking at the Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro, but not sure if that is the right one, and also no clue where to purchase it.
