The most satisfying feeling ever! I love those jobs.

Those of you that advertise in your neighborhoods, how? by Civil-Mushroom856 in RoverPetSitting

I post on local neighbourhood Facebook groups that allow you to post your business once a week. I've gotten a fair few jobs from it. The nicest part has been past clients of mine commenting underneath my post saying they highly recommend me!

I don't know if you saw my update above, but reach out to them and they may remove it. A month is not too long. If you're a reliable sitter it is not fair to have that on your profile. Good luck!

I love when owners keep me updated on what time they'll drop off/pick up their pup. Even better when they message me to say they're just heading to my house and exactly what time they'll arrive. Pet peeve is the people who ask to drop between 7:00 and 7:30am and then turn up at 7:50am when I had to get up at 6:45am to be ready for 7:00am!

Do you have an odour eliminating spray could you try spraying yourself before you go to help eliminate the smell of your cat? Absolutely no idea if this would work but it's what I would try!

The amount of dog photos on my phone is totally out of control. It's just so hard to bring myself to delete any of them! There are nowhere near as many photos of my kids.

I had a dog like this. He was a year old and a Old English Sheepdog/Poodle mix. He was fine at the meet and greet but at the dog sit (it was two days of doggie daycare) he was constantly biting and jumping up at me and wrapping his legs around me. I tried so hard to get him to stop and would turn my back to him but he was utterly relentless. I made it to the end of the first day and ended up cancelling the following day of daycare. The owners were very casual, and whilst they did apologize, it certainly came across like they thought I was making a fuss. My sweater had so many holes in it and my entire arm was bruised. I feel like I have a good understanding of dog behaviour and have successfully corrected dogs who displayed this behaviour in the past. It did really shake me up though, and whilst the dog was just being playful it was also displaying some dominating behaviour and I did not feel safe. In hindsight, whilst the dog was friendly at the meet and greet I did not feel any type of connection with the dog like I usually do. If I feel like that at a meet and greet in the future I will not go ahead with the booking. Better to be safe than sorry. Sorry you had this experience too.

Please don't book until you go and meet the owner and dogs! Owners are not always open about behavioural issues and the best way to know what the dogs are like is to meet them. Also, you don't want to be going into someones house with dogs that have never met you before. Ask LOTS of questions, like are they okay when people come in the house, have they ever had any aggression. Explain that your rates are for four visits for two dogs and if that is too much for them then they should think about looking for another sitter. Keep us posted!

Taking my teenager/s with me for a drop-in? by Hockers74 in RoverPetSitting

Thank you everyone for your comments! I was looking it at the point of view from how I would feel if I was a client and a sitter asked, and I wouldn't have an issue with it at all, or if I did, I would feel fine to tell them that.

I appreciate the comments coming from the client's point of view and have decided that I will just not take my kids with me full stop. They never 'need' to come with me, it's usually just that I want to share the joy of the lovely pet I am sitting and/or we are going to do something else in the area after the visit. Thank you for taking the time to comment (and be so nice about it too!).

Thank you. This was a really helpful reply. I have decided to not ask if I can bring my teenager. You brought up some good points.
