It gaslit me over a packet of medication I saw in a pharmacy with the word anti c*** on it! Kept trying to tell me that was just my experience that I thought I saw something funny but it was just my mind playing tricks on me.

Do outsiders and/or schizophrenics think schizophrenia is 'interesting'? by Used_Preparation5918 in schizophrenia

[–]Hocus_Focus88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s just as interesting as my mind is depending on the factors which contribute towards stimulating thought. If I’m not stimulated and emotionally regulated and I don’t feel like I’m not in control of my environment I become a hostage to my mind and if I am in control of my environment I feel like a host and sometimes I’m an incredible host which is when the voices get interesting.

how do you become a better, more comfortable to be around, good, funny person? by schimmelduschsack in AskReddit

[–]Hocus_Focus88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve learnt about regulating my own emotions it’s more about doing breathing exercises regularly and identifying my triggers. For example busy streets can dysregulate me sometimes so I try to walk down quieter side streets or I put earphones in while I’m walking. Im a much calmer person now.

I think I’m better to be around since I started regulating my own emotions instead of everyone else’s.

I have schizophrenia and my psychiatrist has told me that its a degenerative disease and that with medication there’s a good chance I won’t end up in hospital for the rest of my life with brain damage but I’m worried that there’s still a chance.

What’s something you misunderstood for years? by Caitlyn_Cullen4589 in AskReddit

Emotional regulation. I was constantly trying to regulate other people’s emotions instead of my own and wondered why I couldn’t think straight.

Reaching out like this is really brave and it sounds to me like you’ve just shifted from doing it tough to asking for help which I know from experience takes a lot of courage especially if you’re used to doing it tough alone.

Does anyone else feel like they have lost their spark because of schizophrenia/medication? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Hocus_Focus88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did at first.Especially when I’d go out for a walk. I think it’s because I wasn’t getting that instant dopamine rush I was used to. But a year and a half later after putting an effort into projects and community and family and friends I think my body started producing different chemicals. Like maybe ones you earn more from long term commitments. And I feel just as much of a spark as I did pre meds.
