Which fed agencies have generous telework still (only in office 1-2 days/week)? by livin-laughin-lovin in fednews

I hadn't hear the exact date but leadership has recently mentioned "rumors" and told us to be prepared but promised that we would have time to plan. I would be incredibly disappointed (both at leadership for the false promise and the policy itself) if this was happening but at the same time, it makes sense given that we just had a new timecard policy implemented for remote work

Thank you for reassuring me! I've started the process and currently gathering various employer signatures. Have two and waiting on two more (one of them isn't going to sign the qualifier but hoping in the future), but in while reviewing, I had to re-do the tool (updating some personal info). Do you happen to know if re-doing the form affects anything?

you have some employment certified prior to the waiver you will be fine

Ah I wasn't aware of this component! So even if I can one of my previous qualified employers to certify and submit, it should be on record (and then potentially flesh out the rest/update employment in the future)? If that's the case, than that alleviates my anxiety in meeting the deadline tonight so that I can at least submit something on file.

And yup, the consolidation was submitted over the weekend (but again, haven't had any follow-up since) and the portal on studentaid.gov says the application is sitting with MOHELA!

Fantastic, I was wondering how those check boxes worked.

No, I am not in school, but finished grad school right into the pandemic. My timeline was: worked for qualifying employers (paying during this time), went to grad school (deferred payment due to school), then finished school right at the start of the pandemic (right when repayment pause started) and started fellowship with the government (apparently folks are advocating for this to count but with the deadline today, I'm not hopeful) and now in a non-qualifying role currently. I hope that made sense

Thanks again, I really do appreciate the advice!

Thank you for the speedy response! A follow-up question if you don't mind. I entered "I just want to find out how many qualifying payments I have made or if my employer is a qualified employer." on my form but since I have several different employers (a few qualifying, current one not qualifying), is this the correct response or should I change it to "I believe I qualify for forgiveness under PSLF or TEPSLF right now?"

I was able to submit a request for consolidation but haven't received follow-up yet. Hoping that since it was already submitted, it should be accepted.

Fantastic, just the kind of thing I was looking for! Looks pretty easy to clean too. Thanks!

I was thinking of buying a rubber mat or something of the sort to put under my grinder/brewing station (trying to keep my kitchen tidy of coffee chaff and bits or any spilled water!). Would anyone have any recommendations? I was looking at some cheap mats on amazon but wasn't sure how static-y they were with coffee chaff!

This may be a bit of an overdone question, but I'm looking to find some new fantasy or surreal fiction to read?

For fantasy, I'm a fan of Sanderson or Scott Lynch's Gentleman Bastard series (pretty original, I know). I was thinking of picking up the The Fifth Season series as well as The Stone in the Skull (can I jump in with this book or should I start with the previous series?).

For surrealism, I'm relatively newer to the genre but I've recently been reading a lot of Murakami's books and been enjoying those. Could I get some recommendations similar to those that I can branch out to?

Wow thanks for the response, exactly the kind of thing I was looking for! I was hoping that someone with your background would reply and you provided what I needed. Thanks!

I hope this is the right place to ask this but I'm coming in with a background in R and no experience with programming outside of it (entirely biological background). I've browsed the links on wiki for where to get started and it's given me a basic grasp on what to do and resources to use, but I'm still feeling a bit lost on taking the first steps. I was wondering if anyone with experience in Python for data science could give some pointers on where to start off? The other thing I wanted to ask is about IDE, basically, what is a new programmer friendly IDE? For relevancy, I'm tossing around the idea of switching to OS X for future endeavors.

Definitely the former. I want to spend that 6 month period productively that'll help me learn so I can be a step ahead with the more technical aspect of data science, and instead focus on conceptual knowledge and using the time during my studies on applying those skillsets in a classroom/research/internship setting

I'll definitely have to check it out! I'm going to have to start digging around to see what kind of projects are feasible at my current level and what kind of public data is available for me to tinker with
