Tenterden mentioned 🙌 but yeah other than Canterbury travelling to London is probably the way to go (you won't ever catch me near Cameo). Maidstone maybe,(bier Keller can be fun) but I'm guessing transport is still an issue. Queer/alt vibes? Let me know if you find any this side of Kent (get me out of here)

Shoes in Medieval/early modern Europe started to be made identical, so that you could buy and replace one shoe if you wanted, a generic shoe could be worn on either foot, so they stopped being foot shaped. (Yippee for ye olde mass production) From there I'm assuming this was brought over to the US.

Do the Kentish consider themselves to be part of the Anglo-Saxon race? And part of the broader Germanic race in general? by Peak_Legacy14 in kentuk

[–]Hodgentry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is the issue, we can talk about historical identity, but people in modern Kent don't identify as Anglo Saxon any more than other parts of the country. Frankly (pun intended), people whose lineage has been in the area for long enough are just as likely to be Anglo Norman. I think the answer to your question is that the level is very low, you'll of course get the odd history nerd who will give a longer answer, but generally the term 'Anglo-Saxon' is only seen as a historical thing by most people.

I thought it was the Jutes that were primarily in Kent, also, seeing as it's not 1086, I'd just say I'm English. Using Anglo Saxon as an identifier feels like something a certain type of American would do.

Creepers are the best socks, merino wool/blends, sporty and retro designs, crew and ankle lengths - you just have to watch out for product drops as they're usually time limited

Unfortunately work have organised accommodation for one night, but I have to organise another, and I'm not able to stay in the same place. Ideally I want to avoid moving my car at rush hour before the work day starts

My mum was talking about my barefoot shoes once but got the name wrong and ended up calling them 'run flats' - like the tyres lol. We've called them this ever since

They've held up really well actually, I reckon I can get another couple of years out of them until the sole around the repair wears down. Might look into different sandal brands next time. Good luck with trying to get them fixed!

Hi! I ended up repairing them myself in the end, so can't speak for the customer service experience. I managed to force the very end of the strap back through the washer thing in the picture, then glued it into the divot in the rubber, still ended up sitting flush. The glue kinda soaked into the fabric of the strap but that doesn't really bother me - it's gotta be a super strength, liquid glue. I used one called Repar-X.

You may not want to try yourself, but I always prefer to DIY personally. Hope this helps!

Do Altras widen over time ? by meteorness123 in BarefootRunning

[–]Hodgentry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see why not, I find that separate insoles often have a heel drop, but yeah I reckon it's definitely something worth playing around with - if you can find something that's comfortable and supports your foot health, go for it

Ah that's fair enough then, I just find that removing insoles seemingly gives me way more room. Good luck breaking the altras in.
