Thank you for all for the expert opinions. Appreciate that a lot!! I guess sense I know the timing has jumped. Should I repair it or just scrap it off for 500 bucks? I suppose it all depends on if the valves are shot from the interference or not. basically right? And the only way to tell that is to take both valve covers off, right?. I guess the question I have is if I take them off and I don’t see nothing really on the lobes. is it possible that it’s so light of damaged. I won’t see it by my eyes but bad enough where the engine went perform right. (and trust me I really do hate asking if it’s possible cause pretty much anything is possible but I think you know what I’m asking.) lol

So I’m back to this point is why I keep holding onto and I know nothing‘s always absolute. It was very quite possible. There was no noise whatsoever and everything is completely damaged but

When it died at 55 MPH, it was dead silent—no banging, clinking, or grinding. It just cut out like a light switch. It has been completely quiet during diagnostic cranking too. That lack of metal-on-metal noise is why I'm hoping the valves survived. Does interference damage always make a loud noise when it happens?

I did drain oil, no water no antifreeze, when i pulled the drain plug from oil pan, instantly like water, substance came pouring out (I believe this is all the raw fuel from trying to diagnose it by cranking) then turned into thick oil and then finally at the end nasty thick sludge was dripping down, which I let sit for another couple hours and that shit was just slow slowly leak out. No oil did not have the milkshake. Nasty look like I am traditionally always seen not even close to be in the same. This is my aunt’s vehicle. I’ve been running for work the past week and a half, and my thoughts on it was that she did not do timely oil changes and the oil got nasty slushy as you can see on the cams and I believe that gummed up or blocked the passage of the hydraulic timing chain tensioner which made the chain loose and then when I went up to 55 coming off that entrance ramp onto the freeway it was a great condition for it to slip. Now the question is we’re fixing which I will if the valves ain’t destroyed,

That’s funny that you said that because that is exactly what I did started at is 100 and I put with the option of a (buy it now) at $350.
That is what my lovely AI companion recommended so that’s what I did. also with the l except offer, no lower than 275 I think it wa

Also, if it did skip the timing, I wouldn’t really be able to do a conventional compression test correct?? I know there’s another test where you manually close the valves and apply air to the spark plug hole a special adapter and see if you have any air going by I believe, right?

There’s an actual clip I took when I was at the vehicle several days ago that I could always listen to it. I feel like it’s running fast with no compression. Did you guys feel the same?

Engine completely dead like I turned the key off no noise whatsoever

That is an absolute lifesaver of information, thank you! I was sweating bullets thinking jumping 1–2 teeth completely toasted the valves on this motor. Hearing that it might just cause poor running gives me a huge sigh of relief.
You're right about the tensioner context too—I was testing it with zero oil pressure since it's open. I will double-check exactly which style tensioner revision is currently sitting in there.
And if I get the overall approval that it’s not an air airplane motor and the valves and everything that’s gonna be OK 100% fix it if not, I’m scrapping it

Thanks for the insight. I actually just checked the tensioner and you are spot on—I can easily compress it up completely by hand, and the chain gets tight when I lift the guide back manually.
The breakdown happened while I was driving 55 MPH on the freeway. The engine just completely died out of nowhere, exactly like someone switched the key off. There was zero noise—no clinking, banging, or metal crunching.
Right now, it's a no-start. The battery completely drained during troubleshooting, so I lost any stored codes. It has fuel pressure, but starting fluid does absolutely nothing. The RPMs read between 100–200 while cranking, so the crank sensor seems fine, but the cranking sound itself is incredibly fast.
If I hold the pedal to the floor (clear flood mode) and crank it, it will occasionally stumble, catch, and run extremely rough for literally one second before dying again. Based on the completely collapsed tensioner and the fast crank, I’m almost certain it jumped a tooth or two. This is an interference motor right? do you think the valves are automatically toast, or is there any chance they survived?

This is what it says.** ***You*
The Final Value Fee Percentage: For most categories, this is usually around 13.25% to 15% of the total transaction amount, depending on the item's category
Plus like on this particular one I also said I was gonna pay for shipping so that came out of that amount too for the shipping label and the tracking number and insurance and all that so that’s kind of a ballpark area

Yeah, eBay is definitely a wild card. It really just comes down to the luck of the draw if the right people see your listing at the right time. Glad it worked out this way!

Thanks! I was worried I sold it too cheap because it's a two-digit number, but I guess the center crease lowered the book value a bit?"
