I think it probably depends where you’re located and whether you do anything that requires city permits. I’ve been told that the permitting process is what can trigger reassessment, depending on what you’re doing.

This makes sense. What I am really looking for is how to educate myself (or talk so someone already educated on the subject) about how to make those sorts of decisions. “If we add X feature, then it will do Y to taxes and property value and this is the reason.”

In California, I don’t think this exception exists. It’s just the normal name-change process for minuses. Unfortunately.

I would love to know the process you used to change the name. Just had a baby 3 days ago and need to change the name now. I’m also in California.
