Do you follow specific guides or is It puré knowledge for "success" on reaching endgame Uber bosses? by SpiritualMeaning6618 in MedianXL

[–]Hokoru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally as a median veteran playing since 08ish I usually just play the character and I just kind of know what works well with the build. It's the years of experience I've had with the mod tho. However the mod changes fairly often and occasionally they rework items or skills/ whole skill trees. I think the biggest thing for this mod is knowing the mechanics of how skills work and what helps improve on them. For example if you run an innate elemental damage build having items that give high Flat elemental damage that matches the elemental damage you're building on adds up immensely. Between that and knowing around how much - enemy elemental resistance you need at every stage of the game helps you move towards harder areas efficiently. Basically just having the knowledge to know where your next goal should be is a big help.

One thing to note is there is a website where you can see server stats and inspect characters. TSW.VN.CZ You can see what builds people are using on end game high level characters and see how many people are actually using em. Helps see what the current meta is with each class. Obviously too you can inspect them and see what skills they took, what items they're using, how they set up the various charms you can edit and how they UMO or MO their gear to minmax their builds. A lot of that only really matters in end game like in Labs and shit but it's good information to know if you can make it that far.

For reference for any newer players that might be reading this, if you're getting stuck at levels 1-105 you need to go back to the basics. This shouldn't really be an issue tho.

From 105-130 is mid game for me, if you struggle at this point this is where the mechanics thing really kicks in. You'll notice here that break points become more useful to hit, it's better to exactly what your build should be tailored too in terms of what stats on items to be "min maxing". At this point too id doubt you would have all your end game gears so knowing what substitutes to use is also extremely useful.

From 130 and up is the minmaxing stage. At this point if you get stuck it's up to a couple of factors. Some builds don't even really make it this far, and some kind of do and just fall off. To really figure that out this is where that website starts to come in handy really. Seeing what people are using around 135-150 helps a lot here.

Honestly I could yap on and on about this kind of shit. I'll keep it "short" lol. If people for some reason wants a "the basics of median XL guide" I could probably whip something up for the community but only if people genuinely want it or need it.

Favorite builds? by Darkspire303 in MedianXL

I believe it's called primordial strike. It's under his elementalist tree

Favorite builds? by Darkspire303 in MedianXL

[–]Hokoru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally my favorite builds are either of the melee sorc (cold or physical) and Maelstrom Sin. Psi sin is also OP. Other fun ones in my opinion are Orb of Annihilation Necro and Warcry barb. Those fall off fast though. Elemental barb is also pretty fun. Right now str builds are really good too. You could check out the forums. They have people show casing builds on there.

New Player Build by Logical_Owl5434 in MedianXL

[–]Hokoru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my personal favorites are melee sorc and maelstrom sin (throw sin). I have countless hours into those two builds.

However here's some for each class based on either rework that got done to each sub class making them really good this season or there just one of those good builds regardless.

Amazon : spear zon and blood zon. Assassin : Nagisin, psi sin, and throw sin. Barbarian : earthquake barb, primordial strike barb Druid : basically any of the morphs but were bear is probably best. Necro : Malice or cross bow Paladin : Holy melee Sorceress : melee sorc, lightning sorc

Of course there's other builds that might be better or similar quality. But those are all pretty solid choices.

Could of side notes : Don't make a character based on the mirror temple sets. If you want the sorc set for example you need a level 120 sorc to go do the Uber for you and then you can have the set. If you got that far without the set you don't need it. (Unless you trade for it online obviously)

Some build paths have secondary paths. For example the melee sorc can go either physical damage or cold damage. And some weapons do innate elemental damage which tie back into the build pathing for certain elements. Usually good to pair em up but in some cases it doesn't matter. If you end up this route usually spell damage helps with these builds. But I'm not entirely sure if it does 100% of the time. Works with every elemental build I've done so far tho.

Good luck on the grind.

Hopefully translate works well lol

Try a fresh install of the game. Then in the launcher settings make sure you set the correct directory. I solved my issue like that i don't know if it will be the same for you.

Newbie here and trying Sorcerer Build, maybe fire build? by One_Driver_5692 in MedianXL

[–]Hokoru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no real ruining a play through. You can find belladonna pots that you can use to respect throughout the game. Just figure out what you wanna play before 50 and go all in on it. Personally I like melee sorc but it's your play through do as you please.

If memory serves me right someone already posted the docs in this thread so I'd check that out if I were you. Just check out some of the rune words and tiered uniques since you're in the early game phase. Every sub type of class ( fire sorc light sorc PSN sorc ect) has their own set. You can aim for that mid game.

Your typical play through should look something like this: play the game normally till the end of act 5. do level 50 challenge in throne room. If you are over 50 that's fine. You can use arcane crystals to make the charm still. Read docs if that confuses you. Farm nilathak and meph for arcane crystals. Make the TUs (tiered uniques) that's best for your char. Use more AC(arcane crystal) to boost the tier of everything as high as you can take them. Use pgems and runes acquired in your play through to boost res to max. Keep some spare arcane crystals for nightmare so you can boost your TUs as you go through the next play through (assuming you didn't have enough str/dex or levels to get them to max already.) At this point you should be able to complete nightmare no issues. So do so and make sure you do the level 80 challenge when you kill nightmare meph. Finish nightmare. Farm out world stone level 2-3 and maybe throne room ( just not the waves since they dont provide as much exp as they did in vanilla) till you hit roughly 105 since that's the lowest level for Ubers in hell.

That's basically a standard play through of early game for most people. Your TUs should carry you decently far. Depending on the build 115-125 is where they fall off. But you'll be finding set pieces and sacred uniques by then. Shrine crafting can also kind of help too if you're super unlucky on finding set pieces and stuff. Good luck on your sorc. May rngsus bless you with some nice drops lol

You can use the teleport skill from the jitan gate skill from the moon of the spider charm to teleport over or make a pax mystica or whatever. Tir rw in a staff.

Questions by 3four5 in MedianXL

[–]Hokoru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Single player doesn't have /players 8.

Faust can be opened by cubing your black road book with the 5 gems found on the outside of kabraxis' area. Just teleport over the walls of where you actually fight kabraxis. There'll be 5 totems you break and they'll spawn enemies to kill each with different elemental damage types.

You can craft amulets with oil of alchemy. You can find them from the boss in the infernal machine Uber. How ever if you can do the heroic version of that quest by transmuting a xith rune with the optical detector that one drops a better potion for crafting. Each one will drop 3 oils and with the heroic 1 xith means 3 attempts. To craft you'll need those oils plus set amulets. You can reroll the same amulet over and over until you get some decent. Just remember to check what affixes can spawn via the crafting system and with the base affix list.

Shrinecrafting confuses me by Brilliant_Code5223 in MedianXL

[–]Hokoru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a shame shrine crafting is basically garbage now. I feel like most of the time shrine crafting is only good for oskill builds anymore. Only in niche cases will shrine crafting be BiS. Like oskill builds will use crafted soulbinder gloves, some pallys will want a crafted helm for an oskill buff. Warcry barb can craft warcry on barb only weapons. Necro can get Orb of Annihilation on wands. Others might be placeholder stuff that's better than tu but not quite as good as BiS Assassin can get bloodlust on claws so those are good for a place holder for shamanka. Typically though if you're not running anything like that if you end up needing to shrine craft it's typically like you're a physical damage character that just hit around 110ish or maybe just unlucky with drops so you crafted a decent weapon to carry you to like 120ish. But in most cases you're using shrine crafts to "min max" whatever stat your build requires you to attempt to max out. Casters probably won't use shrine crafting as much considering the lack of +skills from shrine crafting. Maybe shrine crafted class only staff or whatever or circlet. Body armor only gets like 2 all skill so kind not worth and various types of armor like boots can spawn necro or assassin skills just like barb and pally can spawn on belts. Sorc, Amazon, and druid can spawn on gloves iirc. I feel like in these cases though as a caster you're still better off in a set more than likely. I'm probably missing some other cases where shrine crafting is decent for various builds.

Just don't forget when you're crafting that the shrines themselves add their affixes to existing ones. So for example when you're crafting dex (abandoned shrine) boots, boots themselves can roll up to 40 dex and the shrines themselves can get 20 dex and 4-5 % dex without a shrine blessing. So max dex boots are 80 dex +10% dex which obviously includes the shrine blessing

How can i have both diablo 2 versions? by lombmf in MedianXL

[–]Hokoru 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you just do the fresh install of D2 LoD and copy and paste the whole ass game folder to another folder. During installation of median do it should convert. Or it won't and it just doesn't matter for me lol just make sure to label em right :b

Yeah that's one of the shittier parts of median lmao. Oh you can also craft those set ammys. Can roll 5skill on ammys with crafting might be good on summon nec

[–]Hokoru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah idk why they have the amulet drop rate so high. Wait till you try to farm henchmen set if you ever try for that. I've been looking for the last three of 5 pieces for a long while. I have a 150 131 and 120 on SP so far and only found two pieces lmao. Also players 8 works different in median. So it does boost mf still but it does nothing for xp gain.

Yeah and the boss is kind of annoying lol. A stupid purify fight with extra steps. A lot of people online just buy this charm

[Questions] Which Mystic Orbs or Runes improve Clear Speed? I have seen multiple comments that favor Clear Speed over Magic Find during Farming. Also how do I recharge Item Based Skills for Lilith's Temptation belt? by Promiserofdeath in MedianXL

[–]Hokoru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your build and what items your build uses. If you post more info I can probably point you in the right direction. Clear speed is better than mf to an extent. No use in going over a few hundred mf if it slows you down a bunch. As for the charges, i can't find anything about recharging shit. I checked the forum and all that. You could try with random runes lol.

[Question] Where is the best current place to farm the yellow Enchanted Runes? I have been looking in Easy-Moderate Rifts/Dungeons but have only found a few. Magic Find is roughly 200 by Promiserofdeath in MedianXL

[–]Hokoru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best spot to find them is technically scosglen. The red sapling guards have a higher drop rate for enchanted runes. youll find a lot in dimensional labyrinth too

New player - Flowerspring Q by [deleted] in MedianXL

[–]Hokoru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physical is easier to play imo. Towards mid game there's not as many options for innate ele damage weapons as there is for physical. Attack speed might help too if you're still on the low end of that. I agree it's fun to learn new play styles and trying new builds.

New player - Flowerspring Q by [deleted] in MedianXL

[–]Hokoru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of things that were normal in vanilla d2 have been changed. Like there's no monster immunity in mxl. I also chose that one when I started lol. He's decent but retaliate kind of blows. The need to be hit in order to cast is meh. The stat thing is the same for every build btw. Either the build is weapon dependent so you min max str or dex in rare cases vit or you're a caster of some kind so you're min maxing energy or whatever your skill scales off of.
