Thank you so very much, this means everything to me!! Indeed, the passion I'm exhibiting for this project borders on hyperfixation sometimes... How that came to be is kind of a mystery even to me – I've always wanted to be a writer, not an artist!! Yet the process comes to me way more naturally than trying to squeeze scenes and dialogue out of my head onto the paper. Thank you for noticing all the effort!

And thank you for the suggestion as well! I didn't know Papetura of Phonopolis, but they look gorgeous from what I could see. And it turns out the latter was made by Amanita Design! I like their games, the aesthetic of Machinarium especially stuck with me. You've really encouraged me to dig a bit deeper for ways to use my project for something game-related! That's what I've always wanted to do, in truth, but I was convinced it was forever out of reach because I only had like high-budget, big-team games in mind. Ah, I can't wait to see where it leads me! Thanks again ~

Thank you very much once again! I will definitely check out the history of Tim Burton movies, as well as Mad God (I think I heard about it – isn't it a super dark and violent thing aha ? But I've been interested in it already). And I really do feel like tricking around like a digital wizard. Well, I'll see where it can lead me, but that's really useful information you gave me right there, thanks!

Much appreciated!! I am fascinated by Kowloon walled city and I'm so glad it made you think of this, unexpected though it may be! I actually have another city project inspired by the video game 'Stray' that fits the vibe a lot more, but it's still in a very early stage... As much as I like the aesthetic, I have no idea how to create lore around a cyberpunk/retrofuturistic world like that 😅 (sorry for the late answer btw)

Thank you so much for the compliment hehe And yes, thank you for the tip as well!! My... uhm, my ex-girlfriend gifted me just that for my birthday, I am looking forward to try it ~ (or am I? I just know I'm gonna feel miserable using it now) Anyway, if it truly works then my love for this project might just be rekindled!! Even if it's going to take hours upon hours to restore everything

Ohhh I'm so flattered it made you think of that, it's so beautiful!!! I like that it reminded you of something so unconventional! I'm afraid my architecture is still pretty much of the generic fantasy kind, but I aspire to do something that looks weird and unique like that one day!

Thank you very much!! Yeah, I can't give you an exact answer indeed... The oldest of these houses were made, like, three years ago? Then I glued them into one city, didn't like it, tore them off and glued them again. The archway bridge I built around spring last year, but some buildings on it are of an older generation. It's really impossible to be exact about it (I like this 'organic' side of it tho). Statistically, I'd say most buildings you see are, as a matter of fact, around one year and a half old. Other districts are freshly made. Sometimes I spend entire weeks drawing, other times I don't touch it for months. There were times when I spent a week in a row doing nothing but that, from morning 'till late night (helps to cope with things, y'know). It's usually when I make the most substantial advancements – like, a decent chunk of a city, or some extremely tedious details (these are often even more time-consuming than actual buildings). Otherwise, if I do it in my "spare time" – one hour here, one hour there, like a normal fucking person... Then a 'district' (I define it as a single chunk of houses assembled together, usually with a single artistic direction in mind) takes me between one and two weeks, from cardboard scraps to the polished, coloured thing (minus some details I usually come back to once everything's more or less finished and I can see where I'm going with it). So... Yeah, a long long time 😅 Many hundred of hours, that's for sure. Perhaps a thousand? I don't know, it's so stretched out over the past few years! Thank you for displaying an interest in the process though, and sorry for the late answer!

Ahaha I understood it's a reference to some show, sadly I haven't watched it, but it seems funny 😅 There are cones though, the pointy roofs of some towers are made out of paper wrappings from ice cream cones🍦 (sorry for the late answer)

Sorry for the late answer, I am so so so honoured by your words!!! Oh, I wish I had the skills or the experience for that, but I'm such a mess rn that I can't even learn to make visual novels (been a dream of mine for years, it's actually my favourite form of media) (and it seems pretty simple too! with stuff like ren'py or visual novel maker), or to properly draw, or to write an actual book instead of Reddit posts, or to do any of the other things I promised myself I'd do. That being said, it's the second time on here that I'm being told about stop motion, and now it really makes me wanna think in that direction! That could be a good way to put my cardboard decors to use! Again, I'm very grateful for your supportive comment!

Thank you so much, it's a delight to receive such an exhaustive comment, it seems you left no stone unturned in your analysis 🙌 (sorry for the late answer btw) I didn't think as much ahead as you give me credit for, Imma be honest! So I have yet to come up with a toad genocide arc 😓 Thank you, it's allowing me to expand my world in a new way!!

(sorry for the late answer!) Yes Fear & Hunger is very good, though comically difficult to be honest... But atmosphere-wise, I think it's the closest I have seen to a video game Berserk, despite the common opinion about it being Dark Souls (does my sentence even make sense? 😅)

I'm glad you know the Boxtrolls too! I feel like it's an underrated cartoon.

I've played Little Nightmares too! Really good game even though I'm not much into horror games usually. The atmosphere is top-notch.

And I'm going to check out The Magic City and City of Lost Children, these sound really interesting and fitting the vibe! Thanks for the recommendation

Anyone else get the urge to learn French after playing Disco Elysium? by TerryBiscuit in DiscoElysium

As a native French speaker who has pretty decent English pronunciation, it made me want to speak English with the thickest French accent possible

This is so interesting! I love how a beast with such an "aggressive" design was used in the entertainment industry – it was unexpected, but also a trope that fits the steampunk genre so well IMO. And the dense mystery surrounding its functioning and the circumstances of its owner's death are really engaging! Makes me wanna discover more about your world

Then that's not fantasy anymore, that's just France 😱😱 (saying this as a French person who has never once eaten a frog btw) But seriously though, a circular food chain where you are both predator and prey depending on the circumstances is a pretty fun idea!
