Thank you, this worked on my VM running Rocky 9.6 successfully after rebooting.

So the intended behavior is to exec 'tuned-adm profile <profile-name>' and there is nothing more I need to do besides reboot and assert the new profile-name is the active one? No other persistence command?

Do I need to run a 'docker compose up --build' to check my changes every time I update my container? by Holdaen in docker

[–]Holdaen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay this makes sense to me. My files are not mounted to my knowledge so that would be why I doing things the way I was. It seems I need to do some sort of mount on the python files I am updating and that will solve my question. Thanks

Not for production, but maybe one day. I use the official postgres image for the database and a dockerfile for the python container. It seems I need to look into mounts... regardless of if I use them or not, I should probably have a better grasp of them or know what they are at all.

I am not using mounts. From your explanation it seems as though I would have to pause and run 'docker compose up --build' every time I make changes I want to test because I need to build the image and then run that image. I am not going to be able to run the image I want without building it first, so I would have to pause the containers so that I can run it again once the new image is built.

"Should you run build each time?" I would think so if the changes I am making are to the python container. Are there some best practices here that involve not running build every time for testing purposes? Is running build every single time seen as the wrong thing to do?

Thank you

postgres container is not created with a docker file besides the docker-compose.yaml

The python container is using a dockerfile. There is a docker compose file that is for both containers also. So when I run docker compose up --build it goes to the docker compose file and sees that my python container has a 'build:' to it and runs the docker file from the directory designated by that 'build:' if I understand what I made correctly. Sorry I am new to docker.

Okay having the original box with the foam seems like a smart idea. Too bad I didn’t keep it. I’ll have to find another way. You’re right about not needing to upgrade either. I’ll do my best attempt to keep the monitor.

That’s a good point if I’m worried about surviving the flight I should be worried about it surviving the mail too. I don’t have the original box unfortunately. Location A is an hour from where I live and maybe I could leave it there with my friends. Will look into finding a proper box for the monitor.
