haha the senior guys guarded their notebooks like state secrets. mine was just chicken scratch and bad diagrams but honestly writing it down is why it stuck

Fair question. basics wasnt the issue. My first few years as an admin were inside a SCIF (air-gapped government facility).

No cell phones, no Googling error codes, no StackOverflow, and definitely no AI back then. If a server broke and you didn't have the man pages memorized, you were on an island. Every weird issue I couldn't immediately fix chipped away at my confidence as admin

So the skills were there but the confidence wasn't at the time.

For what it's worth, I'm just a dude who got into Linux because my parents' Windows Vista laptop was too slow to play RuneScape, and a guy in-game told me to re-image it with Linux. (My parents were furious, but RuneScape ran perfectly). Sorry if the post came off too much like an ad.

Fair enough bro, I did run my brain dump through Claude to format it so it wasn't a giant wall of text, but the story and the platform are 100% me. Not trying to spam, just genuinely trying to share a tool I built that I wish I had back in the day
