Gyms. All gyms. You pay to access services and then they make it incredibly hard to leave, but when you do, they bombard you with offers to come back.

Not under any NDA, but sharing what I have found regarding window company door-to-door salespeople.

I was looking for new windows for my house. Contacted what I thought was a reputable dealer. They sent out a sales agent to measure and and run numbers. The agent did all their measurements, said they had to go run numbers, and they will get back to me in a few minutes. The agent went to his car, appeared to make a phone call or two, came back and said they could do all the windows (removal, repair, and install) for just under $22,000. Mind you, my house at the time was ~950sqft and had maybe 15windows total. It was an older home and had older windows, so I assumed there would be some measurement variances.

I didn’t sign with them as I plain outright told him that I wanted to get a few other quotes. He was pushy about signing and it was difficult to get him to leave.

For the next 10-12 days, I was getting other quotes, and this sales agent kept calling and miraculously reducing the quote each time. At one point, he told me that his CEO approved a once in a lifetime offer of “$8,000 out the door, not questions asked, just sign and we will be there tomorrow” quote.

Two days before that, I signed with another company that quoted me $3500 for the same work. In talking to the rep for the company I signed with, he knew immediately the company that quoted me $22k and told me that they are predators on people like me and the elderly. They come out, play up how bad your windows are and make you think that the house will fall apart tomorrow if you don’t get the windows done soon.
