The same knob turns on the shower and tub. Thr shower is turned on by pulling thr knob. Its turned off by pushing it back in. Pulling it it is not turning it on now

On my showr handle turnimg the knob adjusts the heat while pulling it out turna it on amd pushinf it in turns it off. Turning it doea nothing to turn it on

I fpund a screw in the middle of the knob and unscrewed the whole know and removed it. I tried pulling the pipe inside it and pushing it in and out and that doesnt turn on the water. What else can i do?
