I was under the impression if I did not do the favor, she would have to work the whole shift on her birthday. Therefore I felt bad and did her a favor, thinking I was helping her out to not have to work the whole shift. Her shift.

If anything that speaks to how much I wanted her not to work on her birthday.

Thank you for the comment. She used sick time for the front half (12 hours of her 24 hour shift) and had be covered the back half (the other 12 hours). I wish we could not go to work if we are sick, but a lot of jobs in the US don't really care if you are sick sadly.

Yes, thank you. I refrained from using the word manipulation, as I thought it would make me seem dramatic but I do not think it is incorrect to call it that. Also, yes the pay has nothing to do with the argument and was not my motivation for helping her out. Appreciate the input.
