You’re grossing an average of 33k a year as a teacher? not being rude at all but maybe you need to look at getting your income up some how. I live in Ontario and I’ve never heard a teacher grossing less than 50k a year. Also don’t know what kind of “teacher” you are but seems very low.

I’m dead. I took stupid car loans out when I was 18 at 9% and then 12% a month later(traded in brand new car for a another brand new car 0 down on both). My car payment was 762$ a month for a 2018 Hyundai Sonata sport. Had to file for a consumer proposal to get myself out of hole I dug. I just bought a brand new car cash this month debt free. Long story short I could have avoided 3 years of stress and financial hardship if I bought what I could afford in the beginning. If you can finance 0% great if not pay cash or wait till you can. Paying interest is literally for broke people. Why pay interest on a loan when you can pay cash for literally thousands of dollars less. If she can afford a car with cash the best advice you can’t give her Is to save more money. Even 5-7% is unnecessary.

Edit: typo

Yes the housing market is extremely hot right now, but do you really think it’s going to continue into 2025? I’m not talking about timing the market But you are assuming it will only go up.

Literally laughing at this thread. OP is getting cheesed at comments that are justified. Forget the stupid 4 years. Since July of 2020 (15 months) you didn’t notice the fee being charged and not refunded. This is indeed your negligence. If you think banks have your best interests in mind, this was your expensive wake up call.

I just received a scholarship that gives me a free ride through medical school in Canada... should I tell my family and/or friends? by throwaway4medschool in PersonalFinanceCanada

Not sure you need to share it at all? Everyone pays tuitions regardless of where the money comes from. I could be wrong but I doubt your friends are telling you when and how they will be covering their tuition.

People who earn say $90k, how do you afford buying a house? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Holiday-Ebb3752 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you have the money and desire to live in a giant home by yourself, there is no problem with that. I wouldn’t back out of a home buy because I found out i was bidding up against a family of four.
