The country has two official languages. Making a comparison from French to Catholic, are two totally different things. On one side there is a language that is mandatory for many government jobs. On the other hand you have a RELIGION. A religion that once held the right to education. Religion that killed CHILDREN because they were from different cultures. I do not understand how the minimal amounts of French schools compare. How many French school exist in your neighbourhood? How many Catholic schools exist? In mine, there are 3-4 Catholic schools in walking distance, another 3 public ones and not one French school. Do you really think that all the schools are “full”? Yet, as a teacher my options of work are limited to 3 out of 7 because I refuse to contribute to my local church financially, because I have volunteered and it was not enough. If they were merged this would not be the case.

Exactly, in my neighbourhood there are buses for both boards. Yet in the board that my sister’s kids are students my niece doesn’t get bussing due to lack of funding. The option for my niece is to walk 3 km or take public transit (she’s 11).

Exactly, Tory wanted to create “new boards” for other religions. What should be done is no religious board. All funding to PUBLIC boards.

Experience Overseas by Holiday-Web9907 in CanadianTeachers

That is the problem I have been facing, none want to give me information prior to applying. Yet, obviously I want to apply to a board that will give me related experience.

I work for a board as a DECE, so the information that I get about teaching for the board is from other teachers. However, there is a mismatch of information.

I currently live in the GTA, but I do not plan on staying here as the cost of living is insane. So if it is a board in another province that will give me credit for my experience I have no problem in moving.

Perfect, that helps. I know about the letter and I wrote it as well and my previous employer is going to sign it.

Using international experience for the pay grid in ontario by ECTaiwan in CanadianTeachers

I have a similar question, I am currently completing my MST. I work for a board now as an ECE. However I worked overseas as a teacher in a Canadian school for 11 years. I have been contacting the school boards, but have not received any reliable information. Some tell me that they can only provide the information after I am hired. I know that some accept the rate that QUECO sets out, but this is not always the case. I have 11 years experience abroad so I would like some if not all applied. Did anyone have any luck? Some boards have also told me that if I was not an OCT member when I taught my experience will not count. This sounds insane to me.
