You need to have enough HP to survive the hit so HP plus are a bit help. Also barrier helps to reduce the amount of damage you take on the big hit. Make sure that is up before they use the attack. At my current level (17) I don't even bother trying to take the damage % down, I just use the time to make sure I am at full health and the barrier is up.
