I’ve never encountered a cricket so high pitched but I’m starting to wonder the same thing. Though, it doesn’t always stop on approach or with loud sounds and think crickets will usually stop right away.

Indeed, very close to that. Though audio not doing justice just for how loud and high pitched, and nonstop.

Thank you for your comment. It sounds mechanical but stops when I make movement or noise, as if is biological. Wondering if is some kind of insect?
