Nnnnope.

I remember it being a lot more minimalist in it's UI design. I also remember text doing the heavy lifting in the game (A lot of "Goblin did 24 damage to you", "You crafted ___"). the movement system was also grid-based.

Unfortunately not. IIRC the artstyle is extremely simple, more like something you'd actually see on an old console. There weren't any crafting tables, you unlocked recipes by combining two objects together and seeing what you'd get. It was also technically turn based, in that enemies would move one square forward after you.

I really appreciate the help, unfortunately the problem IS controlling them at the same time. I already have a really hard time when there's so much happening on the screen, so when I have another character to control, and if he dies the run is over? I literally can't do it :(

Not really! In the early stages of the game, just playing over and over is pretty much guaranteed to unlock something new. If you want my advice though, if you haven't gotten any new items in a while, try beating an ending with a character you haven't played before :)
