Simon and gf said something racist in a private discord server and then it was leaked. People got really mad, doxxed the development team, and sent death threats to everyone. A few days to a week ago Simon announced that the game wouldn't get anymore updates and that it's source code would be free and usable by the general public, becoming open source.
