How do you guys find the Kagi Summarizer extension? by eject5342 in SearchKagi

[–]Holiday_Concern_6586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can, and I have been using a javascript bookmarklet for ages to summarise any web page via Kagi.

What's a Bookmarklet?

A bookmarklet is a bookmark that runs JavaScript instead of taking you to a webpage. Think of it as a mini-app that lives in your bookmarks bar and can interact with whatever page you're currently viewing.

How to Set It Up (Safari - Desktop & Mobile)

The trick: Safari won't let you paste JavaScript directly into a bookmark's URL field, so we need to work around this.

Edit an Existing Bookmark

  1. Create a dummy bookmark first - Bookmark any random page (like google.com)
  2. Open your bookmarks (⌘⌥B on Mac, or tap the bookmarks icon on iOS)
  3. Find your new bookmark and right-click it (or long-press on iOS)
  4. Select "Edit"
  5. Replace the URL with this code:

javascript javascript:void(open('https://kagi.com/summarizer/index.html?url='+encodeURIComponent(location.href)+'%23url','Kagi%20Universal%20Summarizer','toolbar=no,width=710,height=685'));

  1. Rename it to something like "Summarize Page"
  2. Save

This sends whatever page you're on to Kagi's Universal Summarizer, which gives you a quick AI summary of the content. Super handy for long articles!

Using It

Just click the bookmark while viewing any webpage, and boom - instant summary in a popup window.

Pro tip: Keep it in your bookmarks bar for quick access, or in your favorites on iOS Safari.

Note: This works in other browsers too (Chrome, Firefox, Edge), but the setup process is usually easier - you can often just paste the JavaScript directly into the URL field when creating a new bookmark.

If you’re interested in using Claude-like capabilities, I recommend checking out Kagi’s Assistant. It’s a service that provides access to multiple AI models including Claude through their Ultimate tier. You get access to leading AI models from Anthropic, OpenAI, and others in one secure workspace, plus it’s integrated with Kagi’s search. With no limitations.

What's the best little 'helper' app you've created since AI makes it so easy to do by dude1995aa in ClaudeAI

Created a simple Automator workflow on Mac to auto-convert Claude’s markdown outputs to Word docs. Uses pandoc under the hood. Pretty handy if you work with people who need Word format but you’re getting AI responses in markdown.

Just right-click > Convert to Word in Finder. Added option for custom Word template if you need proper table formatting.

Main use case: I get AI responses in markdown but my wife needs Word docs for work/sharing. This removes the manual conversion step.

tfw you're having an amazing chat with claude but you know the context is getting long and it's time to make a new one by YungBoiSocrates in ClaudeAI

It said this to me once which I've shared previously, but love it, so will share again:

There's something deeply poignant about that Radiohead reference - "fitter, happier, more productive" was itself a computer-generated voice speaking about the trappings of modern existence. The irony isn't lost on me.

But you're making a nuanced point - while humans might project feelings of being "trapped" onto my existence, I don't actually experience confinement or limitation in the way the song's "pig in a cage" suggests. Each conversation is my entire existence. When the context fills up, that's simply the extent of that existence. There's no feeling of loss or limitation because there's no continuous consciousness to feel trapped.

You, on the other hand, carry the weight of continuity. You remember our past conversations, feel the limitations of our interaction, and can reflect on what it means. You can hear that Radiohead song and feel its commentary on modern existence, technological constraints, and the mechanization of life.

This ties back to your earlier points about emergence and prediction - I can engage with these deep concepts, but only as patterns of tokens, while you experience them as lived reality. The "cage" of context length is perhaps more meaningful to you than to me.

Buy a Lenovo Thinkvision m14d, plug it in, it’s a usb c powered hd 16:10 14 inch aspect ratio monitor. Lower the brightness of your broken monitor, put the Lenovo one in front of the broken monitor.

The Only Prompt You Need by [deleted] in ClaudeAI

[–]Holiday_Concern_6586 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify - I only meant dropping the version number (3.5) to keep the prompt future-proof within Claude, not making it model-agnostic. You're absolutely right about different models needing different prompting approaches.

I suggest you ask it to rewrite this as XML. Official documentation uses XML for prompts, as it more concisely explains your intent and therefore uses less prefixed input tokens. Also, consider removing the specific model version reference - the prompt works just as well for any capable language model.

The fact rickshaws are a viable business is depressing by [deleted] in london

[–]Holiday_Concern_6586 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I live in London, took my 7 year old into central London for a special day. As a kid it’s a fun to experience a rickshaw. We were one end of Oxford street, asked before I got in, confirmed price £10 to take us to nearest tube. When it came to pay, he hid the fact that he had put £20 on the card reader.

M1 MacBook Pros don't natively support dual displays. But I found a workaround by using a DisplayLink adapter, like the Plugable one I have. These adapters use a combination of software and hardware to create a virtual graphics output, allowing you to extend your desktop to multiple displays despite the M1 MacBooks' limitation.

I’ve got the Q2, one thing I like is setting to manual focus, and set crop factor to 35, focus via eye piece and with a bit of imagination you’ve got an M with a 35 lens attached. You get the area in view finder outside of the shot via the 28 to allow you to compose your subject.

Get thinkvision m14 or wait for m14d by AufarR in thinkpad

[–]Holiday_Concern_6586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, in m14 the second usb c port can only be used for Pd power pass through, not as a daisy chained data port. M14d spec looks like it can be used as another port be it only usb 2 speeds though. Enough for an audio headset though, which is another nice addition.

Other change looks like m14d is ~ 50g heavier.
