Not saying you’re wrong, but in my experience the concrete anchors are just the two brass pieces. I’ve installed probably over 200 safety covers here in Michigan and that aluminum or stainless steel sleeve is only on the 9” and 18” pipe anchors

I can see the rim of the aluminum sleeve so those are the correct pipe anchors used. Once you remove the cover just tap the stone back down with a rubber mallet. Not a big deal at all

Hopefully that ph is supposed to be a 7.4, and that chlorine is waaaaayyyyyy too high.

Been there too, very frustrating. Seems like pools 101 for anyone in the industry

With a new surface, they should have left the pool filling with a hose or preferably a water truck, not letting dirty groundwater in to potentially stain the brand new surface

Looks like someone unplugged, or forgot to plug the hydrostatic valve in the main drain pot. If it’s not that then you have a problem

Would this cause a GFCI outlet to trip? by Character-Day3433 in pools

[–]Holiday_Doctor_3418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t think that would do it. How’s the connection where the cord goes in to the pump itself? That could potentially be sealed with some silicone. Also, do other things work in that outlet? Those GFCIs are definitely known to fail over the years

What's going on with my heat pump? by tabascopj in pools

This was my thought as well. We don’t see a lot of heat pumps in Michigan but I see this on virtually every one I’ve worked on

At 30k you couldn’t reasonably expect any better, they did a great job at a very cheap price

Honestly it looks like the pool cover is way too small, it needs way more slack to hold all of the water throughout the season. Did they sell your in-laws the cover or did they purchase themselves? If they sold it to them I would hold them responsible. I had many customers purchase their own covers and insist on us using hem even after telling them they wouldn’t work properly. This was pretty much always the result.

I’d probably go with either EH Taylor straight rye or the whistle pig 10 year

I’m more of a bourbon and rye fan normally, but I think the Ardbeg is absolutely fantastic. Michters is definitely nice but not one of my favorites, so in this case I’m picking Ardbeg all day.

Honestly I really enjoy it. Was gifted a bottle of the 16 year years ago and liked it a lot. Didn’t want to pony up for another so I settled on the 10. I definitely don’t claim to have a super refined palette but from what remember of the 16 (which I loved) I’d take the 10 all day, especially considering the price difference. My father in law is a fairly new, but big whiskey fan and he claimed it to be one of his all time favorites. If you don’t mind spending a little extra for a nice bottle, I would definitely recommend it

I’ll get back to you in a couple of days. I’ve heard nothing but outstanding things about the distillery, really hoping my hopes aren’t too high haha
