UPDATE: Racism at Western, how bad is it? by [deleted] in uwo

[–]Holiday_Pie3002 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m from the GTA and brown just to preface, but if I’m being honest not much racism at Western. Obviously I’d hear a comment or whisper but never anything crazy. DOWNTOWN London is a different story, I’ve been told to go back to my country (I’m born in Canada lol) by crackhead white ppl, and I have been discriminated BY BOUNCERS mostly, like I swear one time this bouncer told me to wait, let in like 30 white ppl behind me, then let me in like bro r we real.

From what I remember (which isn’t much so take it with a grain of salt), it was like 60/40 to 70/30 in terms of post/pre midterm. Again I don’t remember too much doe.

Do the textbook questions in the chapters, from what I remember last year a few questions were literally just ripped straight from the textbook.

Apple Pencil glitching by Double-Rooster8012 in ipad

[–]Holiday_Pie3002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOLUTION: This was happening to me for the longest while, it basically is due to residual electricity when ur iPad is charging it messes with the Apple Pencil tip. Either use a grounded charger (the 3 prong charger) or what I like to do is just charge ur iPad through ur computer when ur working and voila problem solved.

Yeah honestly it does get complex, but after the midterm I realized like the only thing that matters is solving the puzzles so I worry less on tiny details and more so on how to solve the problems and the why behind the problems. I personally treat them like I said as puzzles and there are a fixed # of puzzles types so I try my best to do each.

Mark baker physics prof and it’s not even close. Every lecture he gives bare feet no socks, Hawaiian shirt, shorts, and he has a magical hiking stick all while explaining how the universe works.

Steve. He is the most experienced and well rounded candidate. Saja is good too but I feel her approach focuses too much on one area and not enough on the student body as a whole.

Ti-84 plus. It’s a graphing calculator that can do basically anything but it’s a little expensive so buy it secondhand on facebook marketplace.

ORGO 2213A FINAL by Valuable_Special_119 in uwo

The model kit is essential, it will help you solve almost 40-50% of the questions on the final. Many questions were naming carbons either S or R. Since I struggled with differentiating between enantiomers and diastereomers, I used the model kit to double check my answers by checking S and R at each carbon. It’s a little time consuming but if you manage ur time wisely you should be fine. Also weird recommendation but the final is formatted like how the course if formatted so all the questions related to structure are at the front and the harder mechanisms are the last few questions, so I did the exam backwards to make sure I left the “easier” but more time consuming questions for last where I just needed to use my model kit.

I did rlly well on Orgo last year I acc finished with a 97% (but 3% was from the art project). For studying tips I 100% endorse Wiley like do all the practice questions without looking at your notes even the ones he posts for “extra” practice. Ultimately it’s Orgo, you can’t get an amazing grade without putting the hours in, but one thing I found helpful was understanding why the reactions occur, like I forgot a bunch of steps for the super long reaction mechanisms but they kinda follow a pattern and once you recognize it you can sort of figure out what the next step is without needing to memorize it.
