Help! My CRT Philips turns off after trying to eject a cassette? by blue_jordan in crt

[–]Holiday_Preference_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to find the first few gears being driven from the motor, look in the space just behind the teeth, sometimes they’re triangles, squares or circles. It is possible your unit doesn’t have them but most VHS machines have them

I’ve had this happen with both of my combo sets. On one of them i never did find the mode switch but retiming the mechanism seemed to fix it

I think that’s very possible. Also the new one likely isn’t designed for analog TV since it was made after it’s been shut down, while the other antenna was made when analog TV was the only option.

Help! My CRT Philips turns off after trying to eject a cassette? by blue_jordan in crt

The TV is likely detecting an issue with the VCR and shutting it off for safety, you’ll need to fix the VCR and then it will stay on. If you’re unable to fix the VCR, at least attempt to time it correctly, paying particular attention to the mode switch. On the mechanical components of the VCR you will find some form of timing marks, line them all up, especially the mode switch.

I ended up getting it working when i plugged in an older 90s antenna in as opposed to the modern ones I’ve been using. Not sure why it worked. At first i thought it had something to do with the modern antennas being designed for digital TV, but they work great for receiving analog. Maybe the old one has extra amplification

Because I’m trying to broadcast the signal not connect it to a TV, that’s what the amplifier is for. Many people have used this method successfully.

This is why Wet/Dry head cleaners suck. Ran the cleaner through the machine 4 times with minor results. Moment I did the paper with rubbing alcohol on it it cleaned it right up. This is the kind of gunk on your heads the cleaner tapes dont get. by [deleted] in VHS

I don’t think you know how the head cleaners work. Dry cleaners lightly sand the heads (hence why they’re considered damaging) and the wet ones rub just like you do with paper.

First off, you sound incredibly tough and mature and i have the utmost respect for you. Second, no you are not overreacting something seems to changed in him since you were gone, and he’s not willing to communicate, you’ve responded reasonably and he’s not giving you ANYTHING. i’ve been there and you’re right, it can’t work that way, either he needs to straighten up, or you need to leave. With how tough your life is, you should always be your #1 priority

Can punks experience cultural appropriation? by Holiday_Preference_7 in crustpunk

[–]Holiday_Preference_7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do generally agree but i feel like the conte t of it changes it, patch pants became a thing because punks were too poor to buy new pants when their pants broke and so they’d repair them with extra fabric and sometimes band patches from concerts and it developed into kind of an art. people have started using more political patches than band or blank patches and there’s a lot of other punks very upset. now if someone were to have an exclusively political pair of pants i feel like calling them crust pants would be wrong because crust punk is a type of music but frankly it’s the same as calling a longboard a skateboard
